Once Upon A Time In The West, Chapter 2

It's a fantasy/western/comedy/adventure featuring dimension-hopping, shared consciousness, and a universe I'd love to return to in the future. To get this thing into publishing shape, I am turning to you, the Beloved Beans, to serve as both a looming deadline and my editors.
I plan to release one chapter a month, every month, on the 1st (Chapter 3 drops November 1st), until this sucker is complete, and will certainly incorporate wisdom left in the comments into the draft I submit to publishing houses.
Anyone willing to read along is much appreciated, as is all honest feedback. Hope you enjoy it! <3M

Another great chapter. I love the world you're building here, and the scope of the story you're telling. Thank you again for letting us read it. I think a chapter-by-chapter critique would not be helpful since we don't yet know the whole story, and I'm a shitty critic anyway, but I do have one small suggestion for this chapter - miniscule, really. As West crosses the hayloft to look out the window at the attack, you mention saddles on hooks. Hanging a saddle from a hook would tend to disfigure the shape and flocking of the saddle, which is why they're generally set on horizontal posts when stored. Other tack, like bridles, halters, and ropes, would be hung from hooks. You can google "horse saddle storage" to see pictures of what I'm talking about. I know, it's stupid, but that little description jumped out at me. Again, love the book!
