You can even argue the casting of Banderas, as great as he is, is also whitewashing. Banderas is Spanish, not Mexican. Last I checked Spaniards are still considered white (unless we’re gonna start being REALLY racist again). So this was kinda like casting a British person to play George Washington when you consider the Zorro is typically cast as fighting for Mexican Independence from Spain.

Great point. That really elevates the sequel into the mega-movie tier where money sort of stops mattering because of the guaranteed returns. But thanks for the reminder.
