Additionally, this is why the term “gypped” is also quite offensive to many Romani people. It’s a double whammy of using a slur while also eluding to a duplicitous nature.

Adam, since you asked to be corrected: Gypsy is a slur for the Romani people, sort of in the same way as saying Indian instead of Native American is a slur - it's a term created by outsiders based on an incorrect assessment of a groups ethnic origins.
