414. Shooting Threes: 50 Shades Freed
🕑 Added 2021-08-27 13:00:08 +0000 UTC
We wrap up our first trilogy with the third installment of the 50 shades films. Listen as Sarah and Bridgett discuss how these movies are not actually stories but just series of things that happen, how communication would solve all of the protagonists’ problems in their relationship, and how Christian’s numerous red flags seem to be buried by Ana’s inability to see them!
Next month, we’ll start diving into our next trilogy. Bridgett goes over it at the end of the podcast. Please comment below your feelings on the next group of films! Is Jaws a trilogy? Is Jaws 3-D canon? These are good questions you should have opinions about. So type em, what’s your problem?

I would have forgiven much about this movie if they had this scene at the Obstetrician’s: The Obstetrician shows Anastasia the ultrasound: Anastasia: It already has rope—taking after their daddy already. Doctor: Ma’am, that’s the umbilical cord. Anastasia: Ohhh. Doctor: Have you considered AA? Anastasia: Alcoholics Anonymous? I haven’t been black out drunk in—months maybe. Doctor: No, Adoption or Abortion. Both seem better options here.

What are your thoughts on Hunger Games as a trilogy? The 3rd and 4th movies being part 1 and 2 of the same book, does that fall into your definition?

What about the 3 Flavors Cornetto trilogy of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End? The movies aren't related in plot, but the creators claim the are a "spiritual trilogy" of sorts. Could lead to some interesting discussions on the nature of movie interconnectivity, plus the movies are great! (Well, 2 great, 1 good)

I like Spencer’s idea - especially since there’s a failed trilogy in there. A fun approach!

Your podcast your rules. Just putting it out there: cruel intentions is a trilogy. 2 & 3 are direct to video and it is recast (amy adams plays smg’s character in CI2) but still a trilogy. Also a trilogy: Divergent. It was going to be 4 movies (last book split in half) but they just never made the last one because the actors and viewers were over it.

Do Jaws! Y'all make the rules here =) But also Riddick. Obviously. Cloverfield and the Red Curtain Trilogy would be fun too! 😸

I object there are clearly 4 movies it breaks the rules!

Hear me out… Jaws 1, 2, 4. Jaws 3D as a bonus-Patrion-exclusive episode.

Feels like cheating on the premise but I'd still be down for whatever films gets you two excited to talk. Though if ya hard up for a trilogy shark film series Deep Blue Sea is right there.

I would say do true trilogies before expanding on the trilogy definition.

Id love to see robert Rodriguez' mariachi trilogy covered here tbh .jaws does feel like a cheat?

I thought Bridgett was singing the theme to The Thing and I got hyped thinking you guys were going to do John Carpenter’s Apocalypse trilogy. That would be a good trilogy to cover.

I've never seen any Jaws movie, so I'm into it!
