Kinda relate this story to the bible in terms of robot nihilism. If you believe its true, In the Old testament God was very much apart of the human experience, he directly affected the world. Now we're in the "God is dead" times where we weren't sure he was even real to begin with. We've been abandoned by God just like we abandoned the robots with our indifference to their experience if the world. Now they need David to explain the previous connection to humans just like a lot of us crave Jesus to come back and explain our connection to God or rather reattach that connection we had to God. Its the "(sky)daddy dont leave me" allegory thats very Stevie.

I remember wanting to walk out of the theater. It being so much Pinocchio turned me off? Curious about del Toro Pinocchio but there being 3 pinicchio films within like a year is nuts
