We are thinking of releasing our shows separately!
🕑 Added 2023-10-12 13:00:08 +0000 UTC* NOTE: The following affects the free feeds, not the patreon. *
We've discussed internally the concept of releasing new shows outside our live feed, as entirely different new podcasts. We're worried about audience retention and you, the earball-haver, missing out on all our content. However, it may be much easier for people to follow JUST the shows they enjoy!
So we've decided to test out if people bite! We're re-releasing the show Coen Brothers Brothers. Search for it now on your favorite podcast app or check it here: https://soundcloud.com/coen-brothers-brothers
We're going to release an episode every Thursday from today until it's done. You'll find the first two episodes released now!
Please pass the word along and give it 5 stars on apple podcasts if you can, any interaction gives us that traction and increases the odds that we'll release shows separately instead of on one messy MEGA FEED.
This has been a Bean-sponsored announcement. You may now return to your previous beans.

While I fully support listening to the majority of what you put out, everything in one feed does make it much more difficult to recommend a show to friends.

Great thought, I hope it helps get more listeners. If nothing else it gives me an excuse to re-listen to CBB, Blood Simple here I come!

If it helps spread the word, by all means, spread those beans!!! Happy to give reviews to all the shows wherever I can find them.

Nope! That patreon will remain unchanged. It's just the free feeds that will be affected.

Forgive me for being slow on the uptake but does that mean we'd have to pay separately to access each show?

Apple Podcasts has a thing called Channels that allows a single network to tie all their shows together in one channel and have each individual feed listed in the channel. So you can make a Small Beans channel and have all the shows under it if you go that way. The Apple Podcasts app will suggest other shows on the channel to listeners automatically. There’s a support document that tells you how to do it here: https://podcasters.apple.com/support/886-create-a-channel

Yo, I’ve always been curious about this - do the services have a kibosh on the same episode/show being released under multiple names? Could you have a Small Beans OnmiFeed as well as one for Kings of King, Frame Rate, and so on with each series and miniseries? Could I subscribe to SB Omni and also CBB, ISYM, etc or just to the shows I listen to immediately? I totally would, idgaf how many shows in subscribed to. Heck, I only listen to a quarter of the shows I’m subscribed to on the apps and half of what I patronize on here. In an ideal world, all y’all podcasters would have a Patreon feed that gets everything, since the archive seems to be comprehensive (whereas Stitcher had a 500-episode cap for most shows), a comprehensive feed on each of the audio-podcast-only apps, and a separate feed for each show, so I could more easily binge. I recently scored a cache of Stephen King adaptation VHS (an ancient copy of The Shining and The Langoliers and Cujo still in the shrink, baby!), so I’ve been on Kings of King, but Patreon ain’t got a great UI for binging miniseries (I know how, but the podcast apps is smoother). And also you should win stuff by listening!

Using both options seems like a good idea right now. I like having all SB releases in one feed, but sometimes I want to listen to a specific show for a while, and (at least on Overcast) it’s a little confusing to search by show and make a separate playlist for Frame Rate, for instance.

I would also have a rough time individually subscribing to every separate show. Right now if there's a show I'm not into I just hit skip! Far more convenient than individual subscriptions

On podcast addict there has been a coen brothers brothers feed for a while. I don't see the new one on there just yet though.

A lot of networks do a main feed with everything and a feed for each individual show. That’s the best option for listeners since everyone can choose their preference. But you all have so many shows that doing main feeds plus show feeds for both vanilla and Patreon would be super annoying for you to manage.

I enjoy the one feed per show model. It's easier to keep track of which shows have new episodes.

Splitting up makes sense, too. But the firehose feed should also continue. I personally like the diversity. And it makes very clear how much a subscriber gets for one subscription. If patreon somehow charges you more for the existence of multiple, there's no technical reason for it.

Personally speaking I find the MEGA FEED preferable. As a newbie it took a bit of going through to decide what to mark as listened to and what I wanted to go back to. But now I'm all caught up I like that I get it all in one place. Subscribed to the CBB feed anyways tho! Ps. The feed I found in my app has 19 episodes, not just 2
