I'd say the original trilogy sure us. It was never discussed after Mad Max 2 but his face always carried the haunt of his son's death when he interacted with kids.

Also, aren't the Mad Max movies dad films, in a way? Thunderdome definitely is.

Breaker Morant is an Australian dad movie you may not know about, but it is deeply inside this category of film. Bryan Brown and Edward Woodward as soldier dads for the British Empire on the South African frontier, killing rebels because they were ordered to, but then the authorities betray them, because of course they do, and they face the consequences. They also get to be dad to a younger soldier who gets court-martialed alongside them, be all stoic and calm the boy down. Their lawyer is also a great dad type, who defies authority and gets away with it because he follows the legal rules, causing all the snooty British officers to curl their moustaches in disgust. Highly recommended.

On the "cover the faces" aspect: That is very true to real life in general. Dave mentioned it offhand but i attended a funeral where a girl was lost in a car accident and her dad happened to be the EMT in primary response to the case. Once the victim was identified, they had to remove him from the scene entirely, because the emotional distress of seeing your child die... its impossible to predict how someone will react to that and it compromises the situation. So while she may not be an EMT or whatever, it's still pretty common to keep someone from having to see their dead kids. Trauma is terrifying and i think medicine shows a determined effort to minimize that damage for anyone involved.
