Sorry to be that guy, but this is at least the second time Swaim has made the Lion King realization during a 1Ups episode. I think the first time was RDR2?

to answer the question about Ripley Mike asked at the top, Samus is absolutely a nod to Ripley. generally speaking, the Alien movies (of which there were only one when NEStroid came out) have been the biggest influence on the Metroid series as they both progressed in parallel, if you will. the biggest signifier of this is the main baddie/Samus’ rival is Ridley, who is named after Ridley Scott. the others being absolute atmospheric immersion, isolation, female protagonist, etc.

Love the visits to the past. I know it's not your favorite and maybe you've covered one and I just spaced, but I would love to hear historical context takes on a Castlevaina game. Even if it's just a speedy jaunt through Symphony of the Night or some such.
