The only console rts that I could think of is Lemmings on snes. Whether or not it was successful is questionable

Age of Mythology is a lesser known and underrated variation. Same AoE mechanics but with Titans and God powers to add some flavor.

Fun episode. I agree there’s a disconnect between REALLY solid gameplay and level design, and mid/sub-par story. Would love to see more strategy game coverage. Especially a Civilization game or Stronghold or something like that. But there are only so many hours in a day and strategy games can be long.

Hey! Michael, in case you didn’t know, the entire Timesplitters trilogy is available on PS5 now. You just need to “select version” from the Timesplitters product page.

"Terrance is gonna be there?" 🤣 Same here, so glad I'm not the only one.

I grew up with Blizzard. I played Warcraft 2, Diablo, Starcraft, Broowars, Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3. For most of my teenage years I would replay the campaign of Starcraft and Broodwars annually. Starcraft 2 is a fine game in it's completed state, but I can't separate my feelings about it from my ever increasing apathy towards the company. In 2004 they jumped at the newest and most predatory business model at the time with WoW. Then they announce a new Starcraft in 2008ish, and the news drops that they've again come out as an early adopter of the newest thing that nobody likes, episodic releases. In 2010 they release a third of the planned single-player content and a massively simplified multiplayer for $60. Part 2 doesn't arrive until 3 years later. Between the two parts Blizzard releases Diablo 3 in 2012 with it's real money player auction house. In an age when gaming is getting slimier, Blizzard is reliably at the forefront of slime R&D.

The summer I graduated I had a party / bonfire and when I drunkenly stumbled into my room steering the drunkest friend to a soft spot to sleep I came toe to toe with my dad sitting at my desk on my computer playing StarCraft 2. He told me, without looking from the screen, that his laptop wasn’t fast enough to run it so he had installed it on my computer earlier in the evening and proceeded to play it for half a dozen hours until 3am without stopping. I’ve never played it, but any game that can possess the attention of a 50 year old man for that long had to have something going for it. Great episode, gents, made my Friday that much better.
