100 Year Old Dodge Touring Car.
🕑 Added 2023-11-23 18:04:09 +0000 UTCEarlier this year - on a rare excursion from the shed – we visited James Cameron, the boss of armed forces charity Mission Motorsport to see his fabulous 1923 Dodge Touring Car. A century old but still clocking up the miles, this car is now a rare beauty. We chatted about his entry into petrol hedonism and his forays into motorsport alongside what attracted him to buy the old Dodge.
Then, after all the interview was complete, we took the car to the pub. Naturally…
Meanwhile, we've had a breakthrough at the shed and things are decidedly less frustrating and much more upbeat about the prospects for a completion!
We’ll be back with Binky ep39 in a few weeks and look out for a follow-up video to this one coming soon detailing exactly what we had to do to get the old girl to the pub! It wasn’t straightforward.
Hope you enjoy it!
Nik, Richard and Ben.

It's funny to think that this Dodge was still on the showroom floor when you lads started working on Binky.

I think I saw something like this on Jay Leno, they said that that steering wheel was an option for ahem... rotund drivers and it can slide up out of the way so it's easier to enter/egress. A company called Neville made them.

That was awesome, thanks so much for making the video and posting it :) So, with what, another 80 years to go, someone will be seeing a video like this for BInkie? :)

Lovely Dodge (although the wheel wobble is a bit nerve-wracking, but probably par-for-the-course with 1920s technology).

Ex RTC, I assume, from the memorabilia? He can call my lad (REME) to drag him out of the ditch any time!

I am forced to disagree, the absolute best car for going to the pub in is the one that I played about with as a student in the 1980s. And still do. It's a 1916 Fire Engine, so you can take more of your friends to the pub. https://www.instagram.com/jezebel_dennis/ It's run by the students at Imperial College. (with a bit of help from knackered old gits with machine tools, like myself)
