Hey Rocco you're right on the money with the consumption theme. Zach Cregger talked about in a press interview that Alex and his parents are written from his experience of having alcoholic parents. A parental role reversal, "Gladys" comes to town and suddenly the kid is taking care of the parents. I love this film, probably in my top ten of all time now. Also I say Idiocracy or to stick with horror, Dog Soldiers
