Presumably the first words Shadow ever heard upon being born / activated, therefore, was something along the lines of: "Hiii everybody! ( / hedgy-buddy?)" -and his own first spoken words were: "Hi, Dr. Nick." Presumably, also, the good doctor was unhappy with his lack of enthusiasm in his responses, and went on to put him through gruelling hours of trial-and-error to make him respond with more gusto, only for the Ultimate Life-Form to fail to meet his expectations in this one fatal area... And, one final assumption: when the no-longer-good doctor betrayed his trust and froze him for 50 years, the final words Dr. Nick spoke to him were to the effect of: "Byyye, hedgy-buddy!" and Shadow's final, parting words to his creator were a broken-hearted: "WHYYY, Dr. Nick...?!?"
