'I really do believe that domestic abuse isn’t a big deal' That wasn't the point and you know it, you just couldn't accept that those post stayed up, you just wanted gone. And LiS is a shit game anyway, it wasn't a hill worth dying over

The phrase you want is "competing access needs." Sometimes you have a community and you have two people and you cannot make that community welcoming for both those people because their needs are in direct contradiction. Some people need certain topics to not be brought up so that they can be comfortable. But also, some people need these topics to be brought up and debated so that *they* can be comfortable. And there's nothing wrong with that, and it's not that one of them is "right" and the other needs to "get over it". Just that you can't have one community that's inclusive for everyone at once, and that's just how it is.

I understand why you guys did what you did, but I firmly disagree. Shamus has the right of this. If someone reasonably and without abuse or emotion argues a position, why should it be censored? Refusing to engage a point of view, however wrongheaded, is intellectual cowardice and *promotes* simplistic bigotry and a schism of communication that leads to nasty, even dangerous counter-cultures. "It makes me uncomfortable" is not something people should care about unless that discomfort stems from directed abuse/threats or aggression. Uncomfortable ideas NEED engagement. Why was the commenter on TS so divorced from Chris' viewpoint? He will never understand Chris' upset because Chris didn't just lose the argument by forfeit, he failed embarrassingly to defend his position in a coherent manner. For someone WHO AGREES WITH CHRIS, this was a lost opportunity and extremely disappointing. You guys have definitely lost a viewer.
