Clues we get that perhaps Dick isn't quite as stupid as he appears: successfully maneuvers Logan out of the way so the hotel staff can clean, uses the phrases "state of affairs" and "pathetic sadsackery". So there is actually a brain in there. And it functions. So, why does he go so far out of his way to appear so dumb? That's the question.
