Exclusive Shorts preview
🕑 Added 2024-09-05 17:41:00 +0000 UTCDear Patrons,
As mentioned in our recent newsletter, we've been working on some new Shorts - 13, to be precise. They'll be out on YouTube in the coming weeks, but we wanted to give our Patreon supporters a special preview.
There's a whole range of topics here, from the Silk Road to the British Empire to the Crusades, with a few familiar faces too. I'm aware 60 second history is not everyone's cup of tea! But for the channel, I think of it as a kind of 'outreach program', a way to reach viewers who wouldn't normally think our content was for them... Maybe we can turn them into proper history fans in due course.
So, I hope you enjoy this little compilation - and let us know which is your favourite!
Thanks as ever for supporting the channel.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of short length videos (because I believe it has contributed to a decline in the attention span of people) I must say I love these shorts. Also, I love that you used Virgo as the track at 17:20 It is one of my most favorite soundtracks from this channel!

It used to be called Malaya until 1963. I still have newspaper cuttings of my Grandad meeting The Malayan prime minister in 1955.

Um small typo for the short at 1:45 where West of Borneo that's actually Malaysia not Malaya when looking at Google Maps.

I love the charismatic being put into these shorts really sets the stage for who they are rather than what they were it's amazing to look at.

Well remembered the name escaped me, it does sound a little ridiculous but not an anecdote you’d soon forget.
Epic History
I think that was Margaret of Beverley! As with many accounts from the Crusades, we have to be careful of invented details and hyperbole, but it's a great story nonetheless!
Cuirassier
I can only dream to be as charismatic as Murat. That quote following his jaw injury is amazing!
Flint and Ball
I really like them and I think they will have the desired effect.

An anecdote between Napoleon and Prince Eugene when Marmont was made a Marshal: "I hope that your Majesty will never have to repent of having made Marmont marshal." It did make me chuckle..

Looks good so far!

There was a women I read about in Dan Jone’s Crusaders that supposedly fought Saladin’s army with a saucepan on her head. I hope some of these covering topics not yet touched apon May give a nod to the future?
