Hi Chirag, that particular track is called 'Hero Of Our Time' by Ben Hayden and it's an original commission. We'll definitely release more tracks in due course. We always put a poll out for which ones Patreon subscribers would like us to release, so make sure you cast your vote!

One thing I just noticed! It’s quite a neat detail that Napoleon's banner changed from "General Bonaparte" to "Emperor Napoleon" at the end. It really drives home that we’ve come full circle!

I know this is a little late, but I’m curious as to what exactly is meant by “Granite Redoubt” I tried searching it, but the results were unsatisfactory as to make me understand what Napoleon meant by this name… if anyone could kindly reply, I’d be very grateful.

We definitely don't use a hard k on Joachim, at least not in the Marshals video. It's possible we have been slightly inconsistent over the last 9 years..

It’s not easy and not a big deal… to be honest even some French historians are doing the error. Another pronunciation error is Joachim Murat, his first name. In the videos it’s pronounced with the German prononciation of Joachim (“Joakim” with k)the French one of that time is Joa-chin. Again even French historians are doing the error. So I am really perfectionist here…

We did listen to a few French people saying the name just before recording, and did our best to replicate.

Except the difference between Marengo and Waterloo is that if you watched the Marshals video Grouchy decided to follow his written orders rather than meet up and join Napoleon and to be fair when Napoleon was Emperor he always got furious when Marshals deviated from his written orders so in contrast Unlike Marengo Grouchy was just told to prevent the Prussians and the British from linking up Napoleon never said afterwards if you still haven't engaged majorly with the Prussian army by the time battle is going on where the guns are making the sound that you forget the previous order and march to Napoleon's position immediately none of what Marengo had was out in the open for Grouchy now while although there are similarities from Waterloo to Marengo it was under different circumstances because Napoleon had written an order for Desaix to return to him while Napoleon didn't write an order to Grouchy to return to him at Waterloo, that's what you need to know the difference between Marengo and Waterloo.

Desaix did what Grouchy never could and “March to the sound of the guns” fantastic stuff brimming over with drama to rival your best. I wonder what you thoughts are on Marengo compared to Waterloo as to how much credit is given for victory? What do historians see as the difference I can’t believe they’ve not been compared. Desaix/Napoleon vs Wellington/Blucher? I guess the main difference would be that Marengo was by circumstance rather than a planned stand. A rather controversial and dicey subject I know.

Strange because when I looked at Google maps there was no space between Castel and Ceriolo if you have the time you can look at it but if you wanted to present it to a modern audience then I suggest you have it as one word instead of two words.

The tempo is perfect, the momentous soundscape brings to life the singular battle with a lot of what ifs, Desaix premature death for one. His charisma won the day, but his demise paved the path to the future Emperor of the French.

As a side point, Suchet had written a note to Napoleon saying that if he didn't make it to the battle it would be Masséna's fault, when Masséna found out he wasn't entirely happy.

Great point! You are correct that Massena (the person) should not be near Acqui (at least not by the 15th when we currently have him). While Massena did resume command of the whole Army of Italy as soon as he was free from Genoa, it was Suchet who led the advance guard of Massena’s command in driving on Acqui. We believe Massena himself was near Finale on the coast at this time.

The segment when Desaix "marches to the sound of the guns" is just pure epicness, like chills! By far the best episode ever (and I keep saying that after every video)! When you mention Kellerman I think it’s important to remind that it’s the General François Étienne Kellermann and not his father the Marshal François Christophe Kellermann, the savior of Valmy. The role played by Kellerman during this battle was absolutely key. The action of his cavalry saved the army at saveral stages. Lannes wrote it in his reports. Even Murat mentioned it. It’s still debate by historians why Bonaparte did not recognize it as decisive. Kellerman thought this was unfair. He was probably right. Anyway Kellerman got the rank of General of Division after Marengo.

Incredible story and storytelling! I was crying tears of joy when Desaix appeared out of the vineyards surprising the Austrians. What struck me in watching this was the discipline and bravery of the French troops and officers. A lesser army would’ve collapsed and run for their lives, abandoning their comrades as has happened so many times before in historic battles. Had they done that, there would’ve been no opportunity for a counterattack. Anyway, great work Epic History TV! Keep it up and I’m grateful for what you do. Cheers

Reviewed another typo, in the Map of the Battle of Marengo, CastelCeriolo is not spaced out because by looking at Google Maps the space between "Castel" and "Ceriolo" is not seen so it's one word to notify.

At 21:11 it depicts Masséna coming from Acqui Terms, but I think it was Suchet coming from that direction? - Masséna was exhausted from the siege of Genoa and only named Commander of the Army of Italy at the end of June, Suchet in the meantime had launched a offensive that took 15,000 Prisoners (Bit about Masséna from the French Empire Website and Suchet's part from your Marshal's Video on the section about Suchet).

And exploits at eylau, the retreat from Russia where Cossacks refused to approach them, campaign of 1814 especially where these elite troops appearance was enough to have Blucher and enemies flee We would love that but anyways you are absolute legends. Again congratulations for the graphic improvements, the richness (particularly dense on this last video) and the number of paintings and drawings presented which reinforce the epic and immersive character. And of course this excellent narration, the musical work, the Epic TV History in short! Napoleon definitely has luck on his side... just like the Austrians a form of weakness: weak pursuit, General Ott and the surrender at the end! Even if I would like a mini-series on the Hundred Days, I would not ask for that much. After all, the War of Independence probably promises to be just as epic in the same genre. Looking forward to the next videos and series, especially Trafalgar. From the equally impressive series on naval battles. Thank you and congratulations

What a video! Have there been other instances where there was a pile of blood after the Guard was virtually decimated? That small effect really drove home the horrors of war; if that could be used a bit more on the battlefields along with cannon fired markings on the ground that would really bring a more realistic story to life than Again, fantastic video! Excellent video as always! Ironically the fact that Czar Paul was killed in 1801, prevented Russia declaring war on Britain. The League of Armed Neutrality ceased to exist after his demise, meaning that technically Britain shouldn't of gone to war with the Danes, but Nelson earned his victory at Copenhagen in 1801.
