nothing is more apparent in that when you watch the battle of Eylau and Waterloo side by side. the movements, turns of fortune and overall outcomes for either side are scarily similar.

Excellent documentary! “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”I never fully supported this because I think there can be so many valid interpretations of historical accounts, and as many conclusions on how, if at all, a past event should be considered when judging our future course. What you take away from history and how you apply it to current events will often depend on your own preexisting worldview. But one thing I can always be sure: war is disaster. For all involved. And work like this really hammer that home. When responsibility becomes hard to define this is when atrocities become commonplace. Those who perpetuate war can never be great men!

Granted. The « very favourable » maybe not. Wrong statement by me But they had the intel they had even if relations were not great 2 Allies + population in general. The conclusion is this invasion was indeed Napoleon’s blunder

Hmm I'm not sure Wellington would have agreed! The British army in Spain and Portugal was small, inexperienced and under-supplied, and at the end of extremely long supply lines over the sea back to England. And it relied on an Anglo-Spanish alliance that was fraught with difficulties and mistrust. Conditions were perhaps even worse for French troops in Spain, but nevertheless, most historians would not call the British situation 'very favourable'.

It has to be said English troops were in a very favorable environment in Spain and against not the elite soldiers of France who lacked everything. This was Napoleon’s mistake to start with The true vilain in this whole story are the British though. They tried everything to defeat France by any means and creating coalition after coalition to make it become a monarchy again All these conflicts on all sides was too much with time passing by.

In Colonel Noel's section it's interesting he blames Napoleon not Masséna, which I partially agree with, Napoleon failed to supply the troops in Spain, Masséna for his part was simply not the man of '95-'99 of even 1809 at Aspern and Wagram, even during the retreat from Portugal Marshal Ney conducted a brilliant rearguard at Pombal and Redinha among other places, until relieved by Masséna, a mistake in my opinion.

Excellent work! Seeing these accounts with such phenomenal voice acting truly conveys the anguish and suffering from soldiers during this war more than ever - the parts of storming breaches and the guerilla warfare left me much shaken. I would love to see more of these videos in the future. The use of AI Art was done perfectly, I couldn't even notice. I don't mind seeing its continued use in the future videos.

Brilliant so see The Peninsula War brought as close to reality as possible, compulsive viewing. Toby as one of the voices, I saw that in the credits. 😉 Now to guess who 🤔 it’s like watching a Hitchcock film looking for the cameo 😂 I’d say you’re George Wood??? Reckon william Lawrence and Harris are the same actor then all the other English accents are one person. 2 for Scottish, 2 for french? Then not sure must be some overlap with spanish, German and French. Close?

It's just I really don't mind what it should be after all a lot of people can use United Kingdom as like UK or Great Britain or Britain or anything in general it's just I like the terminology for The United Kingdom because if others were reacting to it on YouTube and lot would disagree on the name and maybe you would agree on the name Britain but I don't because for a modern historical audience it would be the United Kingdom

I must say it wasn't as great as Marengo but it's a good documentary especially when you truly inputed the accents in the documentary I was left a little stunned by the documentary especially at the one in Vittoria where there was that one French soldier who said "Don't leave me for the Spanish Guerillias" and watched as the soldier mentioned please at least leave me something and he did to which I'm thinking that's sorrowful but at the same time humanizing because it shows that while although at the time the French were the enemy they weren't all dehumanizing especially that one moment and to be fair I can agree on one thing Wars are truly terrible and while although some who fight in the military do die eventually it goes to show that while although they had no choice to fight each other it does give you the clarity of how being humanizing to others can affect your moral standard for the one soldier who retreated in Masséna's army was right about one thing, it's not the commanders who are to blame, but the political leaders who are to blame. To be specific: Look at the Russian-Ukraine War from 2022- the present day many Russians are dying at the Ukrainian homeland because Putin the political leader of Russia forced those soldiers to fight against the Ukrainians when they truly surrendered to the Ukrainians at least they weren't at the time dehumanizing them because it's like I said the soldiers aren't all bad it's the political leaders for whichever faction you support are the bad guys in this situation.
