Ok?? What does them being white matter. For one, shouldn't black face be offensive regardless of who does it? Why are you acting like it's only a problem when white people do it? That sounds racist to me. Two, again he's a sick as hell character. Pure darkness. Should people not cosplay as Tokoyami either? Obviously black face is an incredibly offensive thing to do. But I don't see it here. If someone cosplays exactly as this character, that's not black face. That's a spooky ghost boy. If someone puts on offensive features like racists did back in the day to mock black people, that's completely different. But I'm gonna need you to pinpoint where on this shadow boys appearance you see black features.

It's because black face is literally BLACK FACE. People use black face paint. And prior to his formal intro he was being cosplayed a lot by white fans .... let's not play dumb

Idk man. The dude is supposed to be pure darkness/shadow. Like some creepy ghost/demon. Cool af. Plus, what black person has pitch black skin? Idk if anything it seems problematic to imply there's any relation to natural black skin tones, and pitch black colors.

i kinda wish that kendo actually got more shine.. like what if her power wasn't just making her hands bigger but eventually she learns she can make her entire body bigger like mt lady.. if this also extends to overall malleability she would have powers similar to luffy but backwards that would actually make her one of the strongest UA class members with power and durability

Black face is universally considered bad, not just America and Canada. Look no further than the previous Christmas traditions of the Netherlands, specifically the elves, and you can see why. There isn’t a circumstance that exists where a person can fully paint (not green screen, that’s a bit different) themselves black as a white/none black person where you will not be offending a large group of people, in my opinion.

I just want to know who tf would wanna cosplay as this irrelevant ass character that badly. I could probably count on one hand the number of times we've seen him. I wouldn't assume it makes you racist or anything. But it's obviously something you do knowing and accepting how controversial it could be perceived, so it does make me wonder. Like while doing this cosplay, the fact that it's technically blackface must have crossed your mind at least once. But again, I'm not someone who automatically assumes the worst in people. Intent matters a lot imo.

Lol it feels like any time Kenny tries to clear something up he just makes it more confusing. I thought she meant dark shadow himself could fly not that tokiyami counted as flying because dark shadow can fly.

as a black person i think one of those black green screen-like suits would be the best way to genuinely cosplay him without doing black face. add a mouth mask and whatever stuff you’d like and bam easy cosplay without doing black face. with monoma being my favorite character i don’t think people shouldn’t not be able to cosplay characters because they have less screen time but painting yourself black is absolutely not the way to go on with cosplaying him.

Genuine question, if people want to actually cosplay kuroiro without any malicious intent, would say wearing one of those black masquerade masks be okay? The only painting you'd maybe have to do is the eyelids, ears, and the neck for accuracy. Black latex glove to avoid painting hands maybe. Hope this question is okay to ask. Love your reactions!

That is true of most characters, but for me this specific character requiring blackface my threshold for acceptability as a cosplay is a lot higher, but that’s just me

Why do they have to have a bunch of episodes to like the character? Using that logic nobody could ever cosplay as most of class b (yet I've seen people cosplay all of them)

Nope, in my opinion that character is simply too egregious of a cosplay to do especially since they have 1/2 episodes where they do anything.
