Have you guys ever considered watching Haikyuu? You don't even have to be into sports or volleyball, that anime is worth watching regardless. Probably top 3 sports anime ever if not top 1. It's super wholesome too and I think you guys would enjoy it. If not that then I would say Frieren or HxH in that order.

Frieren has a little bit of everything. It's got cool fights, killer music, beautiful art. Character driven story with TONS of subtle things I would love to see Montana have a field day with. But its also well paced and the slice of life aspects don't feel out of place. Would love to see you guys do that, the character analysis and observations are my favorite part of your content and I know you'll deliver either way :D

Love Cyberpunk and Vinland Saga, both are more mature and darker (Vinland more mature than Cyberpunk). I’d also like to throw Kaguya-Sama: Love is War on to your guy’s radar. It’s a very funny and cute romance show about two smart high school students that really like each other but refuse to be the one to confess. Might be a bit different than the other shows you’re watching now but worth considering!

In case you guys end up choosing Frieren, you might want to know that the first 4 episodes were released at the same time as a 2 hour special. You can still watch them one by one weekly or even do two and two, but I believe they were paced with that release schedule in mind. Just something to keep in mind if those first episodes seem a bit slow.

I think Solo Leveling is fine if you recognize that it's not meant to be an intellectually stimulating story. It's neither deep nor thought provoking past the surface level, and that can be okay. Sometimes, I wanna watch a show for its characters and story. Sometimes, I want a thought provoking experience with powerful themes. Sometimes, I just want to see mindless fighting. There are shows that can do all of that, but Solo Leveling isn't one of them. And that's fine.

If you’ve seen up to episode 8 you’ve pretty much seen the whole thing. It’s just the main character getting stronger and stronger with his cheat powers. And they sprinkle in the genre standard events of “arrogant bully gets put in his place,” or “cool powerful guy realizes how much stronger the MC is than him and is amazed,” every once in awhile. It’s that formula, done very well, with great animation. And the cheat powers themselves are creative and fun to watch in action. And I do like it, to a point. Probably the most interesting element of the story is how the MC’s ridiculous power levels change the geopolitical context, but it’s underutilized and simplistic, unfortunately.

Solo Leveling is cool but that’s pretty much all it is. It’s a powerful guy with edgy powers using those powers and getting stronger. I’m sure they’ll enjoy it, it’s enjoyable, but it’s not exactly complex.

Hunter x hunter is so good, and I think of the ones I’ve watched on this list it would be the most engaging to react to. Frieren is one of my all time favorite anime’s, but it’s much slower paced so from a content perspective idk how much return you’d see on it. Hxh is a long one but the plot is so good, the characters are engaging, and there are some killer moments throughout the show

I always watch dub no matter what. But in this case, it genuinely adds to the show in a way that the sub does not. The dub VA for our MC has added some things that improve the overall experience. It’s genuinely a case of the dub being the better experience.

I've been waiting for Cyberpunk for a WHILE with these guys. 1) It'd be their first Trigger anime, which might beat out UFOtable for them in terms of insane visuals. 2) It's such the perfect length for them to get right through it on a video-a-week basis. They should get through these shorter ones before starting on something longer. 3) It's 100% complete. No need to put it on the shelf waiting for more seasons; they can get through it and put it away for good

I have no real preference among these options, but one anime that I recommend in the future is “Your Lie in April.” It’s fairly short, only 22 episodes, but it’s visually stunning and has a beautiful story with tons of psychology behind it that I think Montana will love.

I would recommend Solo Leveling first. Being that it’s shorter. It’s just 12 episodes. It’s so good though. You’ll also recognize some familiar voices from My Hero Academia. The MC’s VA is awesome. He is also Zenitsu. But he sounds so different in this anime for obvious reasons 😂. Then maybe after solo leveling then do Hunter x Hunter. Because it’s another fun journey.

I recommend "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End". This show is really good and has received a lot of positive attention. Without spoiling anything, the show has great characters, great themes and a great story. ||Side note: if you guys were to choose this show, the first 4 episodes came out together and its recommended to watch these together, though it's not required|| I also recommend "The Apothecary Diaries" for the same reasons, however, this show has more "mystery/drama" in it and isn't the typical shounen, action packed anime, but it's still very interesting. Nonetheless, both of the shows i've recommended were popping off when they were airing (around fall of 2023), have a great well written female lead (imo of course), beautiful animation AND an amazing english dub cast.
