Quite literally her bf lied to her continuously for months and stood her up all the time and he waited until he was going to lose her to admit it. As a black woman I feel like they vilify her a lot for no really good reason. Truly if a man stood me up and kept making empty promises I’d be angry.

If they had cut that, or been smarter with the dialogue so that she hints at knowing, or structure her words so that she only brings up his lying, it could work. But I think that scene in Episode 6 was written at a different time than this confession scene, and they didn't think about how that would look. Plus, it means she's mad at Mark for missing dates in order to SAVE LIVES. Amber wouldn't do well dating a first responder.

I definitely felt that about Amber the first time I watched. After a 2nd watch I feel like people were definitely too harsh. Even if her being angry about it wasn't entirely justified, sometimes emotions are just like that. However because everyone thinks Mark and Eve should be together, I think it's also because people just want that instead.

Yeah it's sort of a seemingly innocuous change, like "Oh Amber is smart, she probably could put 2 and 2 together to notice that a new teenage superhero is getting increasing coverage right around the same timings as Mark getting really flakey". Which makes sense, but then it just really recontextualizes her actions at the college, and maybe even farther back, as being way more underhanded and manipulative than they probably should have been.

Except the show is portraying it as a romance type deal; and he IS going about it in a REALLY creepy way. You can in no way portray stealing someone's DNA to turn yourself into a kid version of them, as not being creepy.

I kinda feel like y'all are massively exaggerating on why robot chose rex as his body, it was definitely fucked up and weird but it wasn't because of some weird romance aspect, monster girl thought rex was interesting so he chose his DNA, he chose a child version so that monster girl doesn't feel alone, my point is that romance was never the primary reason for what he did and i don't want y'all to think of him as a sort of creep

Upon rewatch one of the most unsettling things about Robots actions is that the scene where he takes Rex’s dna is immediately after Rex made it clear he was weirded out with Robot assuming he liked monster girl… Just the thought of a 30 yr old hearing an 18 yr old be uncomfortable with the idea of being into someone who looks 14 and STILL cloning their body without consent for a related purpose is so crazy in retrospect. Like for as much as Rex can be a jerk I was glad he called out how weird and creepy that was.

I keep seeing comments like this a lot on videos, and Kenny kind of replied to someone already about it, but it’s clear through reactions they’ve done in the past that Montana can relate to an overbearing father with ridiculous expectations. And since in mha, we’ve seen that relationship be explored, of course she’s going to have a stronger opinion on him. And also, they’re fictional characters, which means everyone connects and relates to ones that resonate more with them. Same way some people love Bakugo while others hate him. Try and look at it from that perspective

NGL the amber thing is more about her being mad mark ran away…knowing he was going to save lives!! It’s not sexist backlash just bad character writing, they changed her from the comics and it just upset a lot of people bc amber was actually a pretty great gf to mark so it sucks when she gets mad at him for literally saving people!

I think another problem is that Amber's reasons could have been a lot better. If she had pointed out that Mark was only revealing it now to get out of an argument or that he used far too much time getting full costume during the cyborg incident.

It’s not a matter of Mark being a bad person for saving lives; you can be the best person in the world and still be a bad partner, which Mark pretty objectively is. Morality alone =/= compatibility. You can’t have a functional, healthy relationship if one party cannot commit to the other and one party is consistently left emotionally neglected. It just doesn’t work in the long term.

1 murder is a tragedy. 500 murders is a statistic. Omni Man's crimes are on such a big scale it is hard to personalize or relate to them. Endevor's crimes hit a lot more at home for a lot of people and it's a different type of evil.

I do think you should look more into the Amber discussion. I think the question is valid on its surface but in the Fandom there is another issue that this becomes a bit of a proxy war for. To be blunt, in the comics Amber was white and not a small part of the fans of the show were looking for a reason to dislike the TV version. Not saying everyone was but there is an element of the stupid "culture war" going on with this.

Definitely think that she maybe wasn’t the most emotionally fair to him in terms of like, how harshly she phrased things let’s say, but I do think her being hurt and frustrated is valid and also that her breaking up was at this point clearly the best thing for both of them. I remember she got a lot of hate when this aired but to me she’s clearly an average hurt, emotional, slightly irrational teenager dealing with the incredibly bizarre circumstances that come with a world full of super-people. also remember she said the first time he bailed on her that she had been treated similarly in the past and didn’t want to be again, only for Mark to make choices — not the selection of choices he would have preferred to have but choices that he made — which perpetuated that exact dynamic

I hate how amber ignores the fact that Mark has been saving lives and acting like it doesn't matter in comparison to this excuse of an relationship. Like there are bigger problems than this. And I hate that his friends gaslights him into thinking he's a terrible person who's been stringing Amber along when that was never Mark's intention at all cuz he's again saving lives and being a hero.
