Yeah as Gamerx sayz, if it can reliably be shared as a boost, it makes no sense for them to never do this again. It's a thing shows and comics often do that they write themselves into a corner, invent some new power or way to get out, but then never use that power again or address it in future episodes. I remember another react channel watching Legend of Vox Machina, I think it was YaBoyRoshi, and during a Keyleth scene they say roughly: 'Time to never see this power again', but that power does in fact come back up multiple times in the future, and the reason is bc it's based on D&D where every power is carefully created and balanced to work in the context of a game, so it's all thought through ahead of time in detail and tested to make sure the world can't just be upeneded by a new spell or ability. This is very much not how comics or tv shows work, that level of thought can't really be put into everything so there's bound to be holes, however in the case of this movie, I think it's a far more obvious case than other minor holes you can spot in the manga or the anime.

That last comment got it wrong. The whole "Deku passing OFA to Bakugo and ending his dream" was the initial idea he had for MHA's ending which was supposed to be saved for WAY later in the series when all plot points were wrapped up. It wasn't meant to be just this movie.

You’re wrong about order. This arc takes place after my villian academia but before the endeavor internship arc. At the end of my villian academia the doctor says he will give his full support to shigaraki after taking over the army but he still needs them to do one more thing for him, that thing is transporting nine. And hawks had a feather listening to that conversation so that’s how the heroes knew they were doing it and attacked the transport

Idk if anyone remembers the whole Bakugo is the 2nd weilder theory (to summarize it: Eri sends Bakugo back in time to show the 1st weilder how to pass on the quirk, because honestly, how did he know how to pass on a quirk he didn’t know he had. The 2nd weilders silhouette looked so much like Bakugo and of course if Deku had to pass it on to anyone, he chose him.) but this movie really set it in stone for me because OFA didn’t stay with Bakugo after the transfer. I thought that OFA recognized Bakugo and was like “nah, your quirk already exists within me” so it didn’t stick with him (like, if Deku tired passing OFA back to All Might, I imagine it’d turn out the same. He wouldn’t be able to keep the quirk because his presence already exists inside OFA.) Of course this all gets debunked later when he see the all the former users but it was a fun head cannon for me.

I believe the disconnect in communication is that Izuku is the 9th and Final "true" wielder of the quirk. Yes, in prior wielders some of them might have forcibly passed OFA on to the next successor. However "the time has come" for Izuku to be the one to combine the accumulated quirks and become the greatest hero (I'm trying to avoid spoilers) The rules are different for Izuku. He understands the consciousness of OFA and it Understands his will as well. This is just speculation, but I don't think Deku will ever be able pass the quirk on. I think it is gonna die with him. Like a black hole. It has passed the singularity point and will consume the quirks in it eventually just stopping to exist. Like I said, that is all speculation. I am an Anime only watcher.

Such a fun reaction to watch!!! But to add...all mights FIRST thought was "he lost consciousness before the transfer" but THEN he says "No, that's NOT it...OFA did something miraculous!" So, as others have mentioned, I believe (like all might then thanks the vestiges for) that ofa only allowed deku to LEND the power to bakugo because it recognized how INSANELY selfless deku was being in that moment! And for me, personally, perhaps a manga reader will know different, but Kenny...you having caught up except for s7 currently running, you have seen bakugos latest "power up"...I always thought the imagery when he taps into it is somewhat similar to ofa animation, so I still wonder if he actually had an ember of it left inside of him from this. (Just my theory)

Something that I always thought with the doctors letting Katsuma use his quirk is “Oh. This kid may very well have given me cancer.” Cell activation is actually terrifying if you think about it. My personal take on the ending was that, since One For All is considered a sentient entity with an independent will, it knew that Bakugou would not want the power. Something a lot of people don’t notice but I think it’s important is that, if Bakugou kept the power, he would feel the same soul-crushing guilt as he did after Kamino. Imagine Bakugou living with the belief that he not only caused All Might to lose OFA, but Deku too. If you add that to the guilt he feels toward bullying Deku his entire life, I honestly think OFA choosing to remain with Deku was more of a mercy for Bakugou than a mercy for Deku. Would Bakugou do good things with it? Absolutely. But would he never allow himself to forget that he “caused” the end of two of the world’s greatest heroes? Also absolutely.

I will add one thing to the end discussion about the author initially wanting this movie to be the ending idea for MHA... The idea behind it was not actually fully formed until mid way through season 3. Initially, the movie was planned to air during season 5's storyline, but the anime actually changed the order of the timeline SIGNIFICANTLY (ultimately it made far more sense the way it was changed). So the way it ended up, we got this movie instead with tons of spoilers for season 5. Even though technically it was "chronologically" during season 5's final episodes, it aired WAAAY before season 5, and even during season 4's air time. TBH this is my least favorite of the MHA movies just because how messy it was to really fit narratively. Just because it had unbelievable animation quality doesnt justify the overall story to me and i for one am very glad this was not the ending the creator decided on doing. EDIT: Oh also... the "canonicity" of this movie is highly debatable. The mangaka has multiple times referenced this movie in like little homages, but never outright said these events actually happened. Just was too messy to really keep for a true ending, and while it was flashy and cool... ultimately it breaks a ton of rules the show has set for itself like not giving someone 20 different powers in one (ALA Chimera). Barely anything in this movie really changes anything in the story anyways so i think it should just be ignored. Fun, but meaningless in the long run.

The timeline is hard to follow in the anime because they swapped things from the manga. The joint training arc technically happened chronologically after the second half of season 5, which takes place at the same time as the endeavour nomu fight seen in "his start" this episode we also see dekus first proper encounter with the vestiges in the after credit scene. As for tokoyami flying, although he shows it off to his peers in the joint training arc, he did learn it around the time of his internship with hawks which was at the same time as the shie hassaikai raid (deku vs overhaul). Admittedly the movie shows a lot of stuff that hints at later seasons but I would call most of it foreshadowing rather than spoilers. I think there is a good argument to be made that showing Tokoyami's Black Fallen Angel is a spoiler however in regards to the chronology it is all in order to be right before season 5, the anime just made the timeline hard to follow because you expect everything to be in chronological order and it's not

For the OFA transfer not working The way I understand it was that OFA is its own Consciousness and Will. In addition to having said that Deku is the Final wielder (which the vestiges said earlier in the season) My belief is that Deku COULDNT transfer it, but IT (OFA) chose to lend some of its power to Bakugo for the sake of saving people.

It also released in US theaters before we'd even seen Air Force in S4, IIRC. (It released in Japan three months earlier than the US release date, too.) The Vestiges, the doctor, Shigaraki warping to Nine (done using the Nomu the doctor had that had the warp ability), and Tokoyami flying aren't explained at all until S5.

It also has several things from the second half of S5, like the doctor or the Nomu with the warp quirk (which Shigaraki uses to transport himself at the end of the movie).

While this movie takes place at some point during season 5, it actually came out while season 4 was airing, so it's... *almost*... understandable why people would suggest watching after season 4. But, yeah, this movie spoils a *lot* from season 5. No idea why they decided to do it like that, but I'm guessing it impacted their sales since they went back to having the movie take place during the currently airing season (and having a tie-in episode along with it) with the 3rd movie.

Your second point yes is true. That part did always bug me immensely especially when Horikoshi confirmed it was Canon. My assumption for the vestiges part is that you need to have it for a while before you get a vestige. Like, in my head, the energy a user puts into OFA is stored in OFA and that is the vestige. Bakugo only had it for, in universe, probably 10 minutes or so. So, in my head, he didn't have it for long enough for it to create a vestige because it never truly fused with him 100%. When All Might first gave it to Midoriya he told him it would take a few hours to take effect. In my head, that just meant that the few hours were for it to take full root inside it's new user. Not that he couldn't use it immediately. And since bakugo only had it for a few minutes, it never took root to give him a vestige. That's all just my headcanon but that's what I've concluded on ever since the movie came out. Another theory I've always had was that OFA can only be passed with the intent to pass it, that's been said multiple times. So the thought I have was that if you can choose to dump it, theoretically you could also choose to share it. Like give someone a temporary boost with it, without transferring the entire Quirk itself into that other person

I understand Horikoshi canonizing it, but there's two very weird things with it being canon. One is ofc Bakugo getting One for all for a while, which is a rather shocking thing to not ever get referenced later, but more importantly, he never appears inside of One for all alongside the other wielders and is never mentioned to be a wielder nor is he ever in the line of succession that is often portrayed. I mean he had it very briefly, but still, it's a rather odd thing to just never address. Two, Bakugo conveniently just forgetting everything is a very lame excuse that gives the impression that the movie was not meant to be canon, or at the very least it's meant to be an excuse as to why this event is never referenced in the main show.

its not that bakugo lost consciousness before it completed because thats not what happened.. deku tried to give bakugo the power but instead ended up temporarily sharing half of it allowing both of them to use it without dying both at 50%..

If this did end up being the ending, it forsure would have been tweaked to have added in main story plots. When people say “this was the original ending he created”, I think it was more that this was the original concept of what was supposed to happen.

I don't think "I've already seen these moves" was a reference to Bakugo training/fighting against either Deku or All For One. That line was Bakugo displaying his superior battle IQ. It took him being pushed back by Nine only a single time to figure out how to get past the way Nine fights with the Quirks he had shown so far. Deku fought Nine for much longer in that initial exchange. Despite that, Deku never really got better at fighting him, he just tried to throw more power at the problem. Bakugo improved so much, so quickly that Nine had to start adding powers to deal with him.

It definitely sounds like an asspull. I remember when I first heard that in theaters I was like "no way that is the explanation they are going with." I was only slightly more satisfied with the answer of the vestiges making the choice at the time. The anime was still on the Gentle Criminal fight and I had no information on the vestiges beyond shadow in the distance at the sports fest. Looking back after season 5 and seeing that the vestiges are more than just shadows, I like the actual explanation well enough. If they had stuck with it just being passing out, that would have been terrible.

Chronologically this movie came out before season 5 and is set between season 4 and 5 which is why a lot of people said to watch it before season 5. I personally watched it before season 5 and it didn't spoil anything for me because all of the spoilers are little hints I would have only noticed had I watched it later. If horikoshi says it's Canon, it's Canon. He never said the cameo from his other manga was Canon to the MHA verse so as of now, *that* cameo is not Canon. But he confirmed all the movies are himself, so they're Canon. You can Google this if you want to, every source says they're canon, because Hori confirmed they are

The movies are Canon. The characters in them are as well. Each movie has a spot in the timeline. David's scandal is Canon. Nine is cameod in the Manga. Horikoshi himseld has stated they all have a place in the timeline. He confirmed himself that theyre canon. Without spoiling anything for Kenny, every movie plot is heavily referenced. Dialogue from the movie characters in the Manga confirms the plots are all Canon. You might not like that, but that's the reality

They are indeed all Canon. All movie characters do make cameos in the Manga. From what I know, Horikoshi (the manga author) himself is directly involved with the movies, so he made sure the movie characters made cameos in the manga.
