To kind of explain the Amber hate better. When Mark finally admitted he has powers to her, she states the she had "figured it out weeks ago." WEEKS. Which means she knew it was him fighting at the college, and knew he didn't get hit by a bus and almost died fighting his toughest fight at the time. More than likely she figured it out not too long after they got together. After all of that, and stating as much to his face, she makes the issue about her being lied to and not feeling trusted despite that they had only been together for less than a year. Now, her argument would have been very valid if she was only just finding out when Mark told her. The fact that she figured it out, never brought it up to him, and still focused more on how she felt hurt and betrayed over how Mark risks his life every time he left her, safe to say it didn't sit well with a lot of people at all. As you've probably already seen by now, they've made some adjustments to her character since then. Also that is a red orange. Rust color at best. Straight up orange is the prison suits that the Mauler twins had on.

Id say it's reddish orange, so I get people seeing one or the other. You have to understand that - COMIC SPOILERS!!!! for that to happen at episode 8 is a let down in a way unless you know what going to happen - We all comic readers know he comes back next season and it's fucking fantastic but most people don't so they're disappointed they got rid of dude so soon

I wouldn’t have written it that way either, but it does still make sense to me. Near death experiences provoke emotional reactions, a lot of times those can result in whatever thoughts are “near at hand” being amplified. The conversation they were having immediately prior to the attack was about Mark explicitly committing to a long-term, adult relationship and shared future with Amber. When Mark comes back after he attack, and does that tired old “I was going for help routine,” it’s one lie too many for Amber. She wanted to hear him say, “I’m Invincible, that was me saving all of you,” because they had just agreed to a serious relationship and she wanted him to finally be honest. When he isn’t, all the resentment that built up over six months of really bad lies and excuses that Mark just expected her to swallow like she’s an idiot, exploded. And so she wanted to say something to hurt him. It’s not like, a nice thing to do, but teenagers make mistakes about that kind of thing all the time.

I read the comics as they came out. Comic fans were angry about her back then too. And for most of the same shitty reasons. They changed some pretty minor details about the order of events and gave her character a lot more to do for the show, but the basic criticisms people are making boil down to the same shit. Which ultimately are, if you dig into their arguments: she doesn’t flatter Mark’s masculinity enough, she doesn’t disregard her own emotional needs entirely in service of Mark’s responsibilities, and she thinks about “cheating” on Mark. This last one in quotation marks because a lot of the fandom has show, consistently, over many years, that they do not understand what cheating is or how relationships work.

The reasoning with Amber is not “because your alien dad beat the shit out of you,” it’s because she saw someone she cares about and literally just pushed away almost die and it freaked her the fuck out. I agree it’s not a good idea but they’re seventeen so people should cut both her and Mark some slack for their bad relationship decisions.

I took amber and Mark getting back together is that in the grand scheme of things amber didn't think her problems mattered. Which is not the healthiest way to look at it but if your ex who you care for gets in a life or death situation you can realize just how much you feel for them and past problems might not matter. Whether that's healthy or not I think depends on exact scenario

No the problem with Season 2 is there's no trust - I'm a comic reader so I know plotlines aren't just being dropped left and right - however most complaints have mentioned that - Cough even the last episode 😉😉 - I'm a comic reader so I didn't have this problem

I think anotherone of thr reasons why people dislike Amber (that isn’t just from the narrative in the show) is that there’s a decent amount of comics fans that believe that the show actually made Amber a far less sympathetic character than the comics story did.

I mean it was fine because they threw 3 minutes worth of exposition, but as far as how these characters first met each and got themselves into these situations the pilot helps especially between Alastor and Charlie.

i don't know if its canon or not but a lot of people think that the reason mark didn't side with his dad is because he called his mom a pet. in the last ep of s1 it look like mark was not so apposed to what omni man was saying until he called his mom a pet

It looks red to me... but I'm a bit colorblind so I color picked it. It seems like the main color is pretty much right in the middle and I could see it going either way based on personal perception. The shadows move closer to red though. On its own that doesn't really mean much but because the main color was already in the middle it makes me think it's more red than orange.

I think Kenny recapping Amber and Mark getting back together comes off a little bit differently than how it went. He does almost quote her exactly but portrays it as “I mean … if you want 😒” instead of “I mean … if you want 👉🏼👈🏼🥺” . Watching your significant other being beaten to a pulp probably brings out some feelings 😮‍💨 (she also notes how Mark was being lied to by his dad). That being said, it was not a good relationship (plenty of chemistry, but relationships need more than that) …. It’s orange

Like, its not like some outside group are making changes here, its just the author trying to make the story better than when he first wrote it 20 years ago. Just a point, the hate for Amber wasn't just specifically because she wasn't understanding of Mark's secret. It was mainly because she yelled at him for running off during the android attack at the college and when they got home the next episode she claimed she'd known for a while. Her knowledge and state of mind was all over the place writing wise. I never hated her but it was confusing that she basically yelled at him for being a coward and abandoning them then turned around and claimed she knew he was Invincible for weeks.

some of the hate came from comic readers because the writers completely changed her character from the comics. she's an entirely a different character outside of her name. even her response to finding out mark was invincible was completely different in the comics so do to that a lot of comics fans hated it and even the anime only people weren't really liking her character that much. but people started liking her more in the second season.

I'm not sure if I hate her, but i don't like her, so maybe i can help. Basically, in hindsight, she chewed out Invincible for saving her life, because Mark ran. She new Mark was Invincible, but Then complained when he saved her life and kept his Identity secret. Plus, despite being very humanitarian and smart, she wanted Mark to let people die so he could hang out with her. Add That to the struggles that most non-super hero partners have, and Admittedly a large echo increase because some people wanted to hate on a smart black woman, and that's basically it.
