Yeah, i listened to the audio book version and its *chef's kiss* compared to the anime, alot more depth and development with certain characters than the anime could cram in without making it an info dump or changing too much.

It wasn’t just the animation people were concerned about, it was the changes to the story. Specifically the Jiju island raid arc, which is being heavily altered from the original because Japan were the villains of the arc. Since Japan is making the anime they’re rewriting the story to make themselves not the villains, which will have an impact on later arcs as well

It's honestly weird that episode 1 and 2 weren't combined for an hour special because they feel like they belong together. Kinda like how Re:Zero did back when it was released.

I think they wanted to spotlight characters like the Chairman, Cha, and the Guildmasters who in the manhwa aren't introduced until they're relevant to Jinwoo's story, and it does screw with the pacing a bit, agreed.

Manhwa is a quick read. For Solo Leveling, the only thing I have concern for is the comedy aspect of the story. There are small funny moments all throughout the show. And I’m wondering whether the anime will keep those moments, considering they’re taking a more serious approach to the anime

Cha Hae-In, Baek Yoonho, Choi Jong-In, and everything that references Jeju Island, only begins to get talked about, post him meeting Igris. Some things in the manhwa are hinted at. But they showed and talked about Jeju beforehand. So when bla bla bla happens, people will already have background and info about it.

i know that you guys said you aren’t great with subs, however i’d 1000% recommend at least checking out these monologue scenes in japanese. both english and japanese voice actors knock it out of the park so hard

FYI, "0.02 seconds to decide" thing is probably incorrect. The pop-up says his heart will stop in 0.02 seconds if he doesn't accept. So it seems to me like the game "paused" while the pop-up was open. It's like how single-player (solo) games pause whenever a tutorial or some other dialogue window pops up.

Aleks Lee BODIED this role was jinwoo. the emotion and anger in his rant at the end encapsulated the direness of the situation perfectly, almost got me to tear up a little bit. He's an amazing voice actor!

no, BIG SPOLER FOR THE MANWA, a big part of way he was chosen is because he almost died so often and that was kind of some requirement to be the (again big manwa spoiler) shadow monarch. and being the ''player'' was just a stepping stone to become the shadow monarch

People were also worried about the pacing when we saw character designs for characters that were introduced later. Little did we know that the way they would use said characters before the official introductions is actually REALLY cool. They are giving the story more depth and expanding on the world that was given to us in the manhwa
