The dub doesnt show it but the symbol on the little demon eyes say “Four”. Crunchyroll has been pretty inconsistent in showing those type of translations on dub

I love how it seems that it's very easy to forget that there's more demons than just the upper moons and Muzan. No matter how strong the Hashira are if they have the general demons getting in their way while dealing with upper moons it could severely hinder their efficiency In battle. So the other Demon slayers would be good as shields against that and getting them stronger would be just as useful. Its very easy to forget that even the cannon fodder can be an asset if they're prepared and used right.

When y'all say that the hashira are "wasting their time" you have to remember some of the factors that tokito mentioned as, more or less, prerequisites to manifest the mark. Higher body temp Higher heartbeat Stress Literally going almost nonstop all day, and then for heavy duty training at night, they're hoping to push their bodies into these conditions to make manifesting that much more likely! Some keen observations/predictions made...makes it more exciting for y'all to continue this arc!!!

The anime has yet to cover it and I'm not sure if it will, but there are specific qualifications where demon slayers are promoted to hashira level. Without spoilers though it's not really plot relevant, I can see why Tanjiro technically hasn't been promoted to hashira level but possess the power and potential to do so.

Not permanently no, it means he manifested it for a short time and disappeared again! They're trying to make the mark the new "base level" if you will! "Permanently" Being the key word here, although Tanjiro, Mitsuri, and Muichiro have all manifested the mark for a short time, they don't retain the power the mark gives them. As explained previously by Amane Ubuyashiki, when one slayer manifests the mark, all the other slayers around them can also develop the mark, so why would they train to manifest it and let it vanish again? All that would do is confirm Amane's statement that they all have potential to manifest the mark, which was confirmed anyway by Mitsuri and Muichiro! So sure, they have tapped into the mark once or twice, but you saw how easy an unmarked Rengoku was for Akaza to take out, and he was one of the stronger ones, so there's no point in hoping your mark appears mid-battle when you're nearly dead already, when you can just avoid that by having the mark before you even begin a fight! Hopefully this helps!

It absolutely does fit that Tanjiro is doing the training! He has a lot of work to do, and the aim of the training is for Hashira and Demon slayers to manifest the mark, which he has not done yet. He has manifested it for a few minutes at a time at best!
