Keep in mind, Mahito is like a year old. This is basically a child facing his first ever experience of real death. Not that it makes him more sympathetic, but it does kinda change how you might look at the scene of him crying

Montana is actually pretty spot on with her comparison to other shows. Gege is a huge weeb and you'll see a lot of inspiration pulled from other popular manga and other references, ESPECIALLY HxH, gege idolizes togashi. There was a scene in this exact episode that is basically a 1 to 1 adaptation from hxh i wont say which tho to avoid spoilers.

I think he did it on purpose. He was initially going to use Black Flash, but the moment Mahito shifted his body he knew the hit wouldn't be effective, so he switched up. He counted on the time lag to stun Mahito long enough for him to recover.

Another reminder that Divergent Fist is not a technique, it's just a side effect of Yuji's previously poor cursed energy control (his CE couldn't keep up with how fast his attacks are). The final fight with Mahito was meant to show how Yuji can now use Divergent Fist at will/tactically.

Yuji definitely has some Sukuna related passives (his poison resistance and soul outline) but i personally don’t want him to take Sukuna’s offensive abilities. There’s something about the barebones, down to earth, in the trenches, imperfect way that yuji fights that’s really connected to his character. It would be weird to see him shooting fire arrows and insta kill slicing curses

Nice! Also Kenny was right about Yuji’s time lag at 22:50 - it was his old move that he used to use back in season 1 before Todo criticized it during their fight. He stopped using it after that point but doesn’t mean that he can’t use it. IIRC there was narration about that during this fight in the manga.

I think the cool thing about that last scene of their fight is that Yuji’s divergent fist that staggered mahito was possibly completely by accident. Cuz divergent fist is essential yujis failed version of a cursed energy punch when he doesn’t embue his cursed energy fast enough so there a secondary blow while black flash is the perfect version. Essentially he saved himself with one of his rugged flawed “yuji” features
