What AFO says is that Best Jeanist's quirk is weak on it's own and that it's strength comes from hard work and practice, which wouldn't pair well with Tomura's disposition. There is a very good reason why AFO doesn't steal Overhaul, but that's a spoiler

Was a literal pawn threatened with death threats (with evidence of follow through), Parents pressuring him to do as AFO says or they'll die too, all while having to choose his parents and himself or his class? Not only that, but he self sabotages a few times throughout the series so he doesn't have to betray his class. AND HE'S ONLY 15!!!! He has got to be one of the most unfortunate characters in this show!

Also, don’t really buy that all for one wouldn’t want to take it due to difficulty of quirk, I get that with every other quirk, but a quirk that restores him back to fully healthy? I believe he would TOTALLY take the time to figure it out as he probably wants nothing more then to go back to normal. It is just too big of a benefit to ignore!

So the reason All for One didn't steal Overhaul's quirk is solely because of time and effort. AfO is only focused on easy and powerful quirks. Kind of like a get rich quick scheme but with quirks. If a quirk requires time and a lot of skill in order to use, he refuses to take it. Examples are Overhaul, Best Jeanist, etc.. Both their quirks are powerful, but they take a lot of time and effort to master or use it at its full potential.

Bakugo actually admired and took note of Deku reaching out his hand to Aoyama because its a direct callback to when Bakugo fell into the river as they were kids and Deku was the only one that ran all the way down to where he fell and reached out his hand to him. The Bakugo as a kid hated Deku for doing that because it hurt his pride and ego. Now Bakugo saw it and knew this was what Deku would do even knowing what all Aoyama did because he looks for the best and good in a person opposed to all of the bad just like Deku did with Bakugo.

Well Deku is the one reaching out to him. Its a direct call back to All Might telling Deku he can still be a hero. Bakugo also caught onto what Deku was trying to do as a sign of how well he knows Deku. That is another callback on how Deku came to help Bakugo when he fell off into the river and could have really hurt himself and Deku held out his hand for Bakugo to help him back up even though Bakugo was selfish and hard headed back then and hated him for it but now Bakugo sees Deku do it again and admires him for it.

So, fun fact: I watch the "next episode" previews. The preview ended with the shot of Hagakure's gloves (the one where AfO says he has friends in many places, though his voiceover wasn't in the preview) and then the title card "VILLAIN". I felt SO spoiled from that preview that week. XD

Hints and foreshadowing about Aoyama's betrayal: 1. He disappeared during the USJ Arc after being teleported. When asked where he was, all he said was, "Secret!" He was likely teleported somewhere safe, per All for One's orders. 2. Aoyama distracted Uraraka during the Final Exam Arc. He may have been trying to avoid going to the summer camp and being able to leak their location. 3. During the Training Camp Arc, Aoyama was worried when one of the villains, the one causing the poison gas, was defeated. He realized his classmates were fighting. 4. Also, despite making *direct eye contact* with Dabi, Dabi ultimately decided to leave him alone. 5. He advised against going out to save Bakugo. While he was probably worried about his classmates, there was probably a lot more to it. 6. In the Preliminary Hero License Exam Arc, we get a small look at Aoyama's past. In it, he asks his parents why he's different from everyone else. He also mentions his dream, that he be treated as an equal. This alludes to him being quirkless. 7. He was also hiding for most of this arc. And, later, he even sacrifices himself, trying to draw the enemy (the other schools taking the exam) to him. He would've failed the exam. He might've been feeling like he wasn't worthy to be a hero, or he might not have wanted to be around his classmates and cause them harm anymore. 8. Just before the Culture Festival Arc, Aoyama is asked if he'd like to eat with his classmates. He declines, saying that Lunch Rush's food doesn't agree with his palate. However, it's more likely that he just can't bear to spend time with his classmates anymore after continuing to betray them. 9. We also get a very suspicious moment when he's outside Midoriya's dorm room on the balcony. The moment is played for laughs after the initial tension, but it definitely foreshadows that Aoyama is up to *something*. 10. Aoyama later tells Deku that, like Deku, Aoyama's body isn't made to handle his quirk. This further hints that he was once quirkless. He may have also been thinking that Deku got his quirk from All for One as well. 11. Aoyama *loves* the camera. For most of the series, he's even facing towards it. But, after the Paranormal Liberation War Arc, he begins facing away from it. In some cases, he even avoids it altogether, staying out of camera shots that otherwise show the whole class. 12. During the Dark Deku Arc, he and Hagakure are the only ones not to say anything to him. Hagakure makes sense since she's never really had any moments with Deku. But, despite the time they've had together, Aoyama doesn't say anything to Deku. 13.A. The spine of each volume of the manga shows a little character portrait (from the shoulders up) from Class 1-A. Volume 10's spine shows Aoyama, but he's looking pretty downcast for some reason. 13.B. Additionally, there's some rather creepy art of Aoyama that Horikoshi drew for an art exhibition. Aoyama is sitting looking out at the viewer. His body is facing away from us, but he's looking at us sadly. Aoyama < / 3 I love that Class 1-A is still reaching out their hands to him, metaphorically speaking. They still believe that he can be hero, even if he doesn't believe it himself. BTW, 80% of people have Quirks *right now*. It's not "in the beginning" 80% had Quirks. It's 80% right now, but it's becoming much rarer. Like, by the time Class 1-A is grown up and married, the percentage of people with Quirks may be at 90%.

Maybe hori just liked the pose but my headcanon is that the idealogy of the liberation kind of spread on social media and kids picked up on it. Like they were already ready to influence politicians and the media so I dont think it's too far off to say that they planted some influencers here and there and since kaminari is interested in fashion and music and "cool" stuff id imagine he's the most up to date when it comes to stuff like that.

In the concept of the story, try and tell a desperate child to do the right call when his parents lives are on the line and All For One is free, so the UA shelter idea is good but for an ignorant frightened child the Aoyama is he don’t know better (for sake of the story being told)

So like the manga readers had it cooked down to just Aoyama or Invisible Girl based on who was unaccounted for at USJ the first time they were ambushed. Invisible girl seemed a really likely red herring as she claimed to be in Todoroki's area, and he hit all the villains in his area with a massive indiscriminate freeze attack. Todoroki even comments "Whoa glad I didn't freeze her" or something like that. The manga cruelly did a chapter end at the "I have friends everywhere" and a picture of the invisible girl. In the anime that is less impactful as it cuts to the next events immediately thankfully.

Remember how I said that there were a couple hints that showed this reveal? When Midoriya wrote the letters, Aoyama was not there. The previous episode when All Might said that Star delayed Shigaraki's completion, him and Hagakure were not visible. Speaking of her, in the manga when AFO mentioned he had many friends it was at the end of a chapter with Hagakure shown. It led many to believe that Hagakure was the traitor and the week between those two chapters was AGONY. I'm glad it was ultimately a red herring, but I wouldn't have faulted the creator for going that route.
