Kaiju have killed countless people, you would be a fool to believe one that says “don’t worry I won’t hurt you”. No matter how good of a person you are, you would need to see a lot proven before you even begin to trust. A lot of these people are probably motivated by what kaiju have done to wreck their lives, and so would refuse any information that might ask them to show kaiju, even if just one, some compassion. Where does your anger then go?

Re Day's point, I feel comfortable sharing this because it's not actually plot or delved into worldbuilding, but the Kaiju Defense Force is an active duty on-call military unit. Officers need to be available 24/7 in case of Kaiju attack, it's doubtful they have any ability to socialize outside of the base.

I think she would be less angry if he hadn't stopped trying. At this point we don't really know much about how the power system works (I do because I'm caught up on the manga, but from this perspective), but the fact that 8% is considered really good for a first time using the suits implies that one can improve their score through training and extended use. If Kafka quit trying, and never actually talked to Mina about it, then from her perspective he just broke their promise.

My thing with mina is tho... like why didn't she help him study or train for the exam like sure we know he was probably embarrassed to reach out to her but she definitely could've tried to reach out and offer some guidance with her position no? Or did I forget something

A few reasons why j think he is keeping it a secret is 1 he destroyed millions of dollars in damages 2 it might be a Yuji thing and they will kill him out of fear especially when most have a kill all kiju mentality and 3 we found out that their weapons are from kiju corpse so what if they try to dissect him either for his powers or to figure out how he became one

What if what if...... *somewhat spoiler* The suit reads the heart and like, since kafka doesn't have a human heart anymore and has a kaiju core, the suit can't read it? Ah but wait that wouldn't explain how his suit rose to 1% 🥲 but still, could be like heart centered and interferance due to having a core? Or maybe because the suit is made from kaiju, and kafka is part kaiju... the suit kinda reads kafka's kaiju parts as part of the suit so its reading less of him than is actually there?

No spoilers, but it kind of makes you think just WHAT she went through without him that makes her upset he wasnt there with her to make sure she was alright. Also from the first few episodes, we see from Kafkas point of view that he also hasnt reached out to her since AT LEAST his first failure of the exam.

I'd assume the Kaiju is still inside of him whether or not he's in Kaiju form. It's not like the thing disappears and teleports back whenever he wants to transform. It's IN him. His organs are probably all shifted and messed up, it's a wonder he was not discovered yet at any medical checkup. The suit works off of and is giving feedback on his internals. So I'd guess it works based on his body to some extent. Whether or not he is currently in Kaiju form the suit/kaiju material on him might not be very cooperative with what is already inside of him.

But remember, if he is not in kaiju form, he does NOT have kaiju strength. The suits compatibility is strictly an aptitude thing. It is something you need to get used to and be in peak physical shape to use. Reno is 8%, has never used a suit before and they say its incredible Everyone else who has over 10%, without spoiling their backgrounds, have already had YEARS to train with or how to use them. Kikoru especially to the point where she had her OWN private suit. You say she does not appear as physically buff, but remember, she was 5th in the overall physical test

I have only seen up to this episode, my prediction is that Kafka cannot use any power from the suit, because the Kaiju strength he has inside of himself is greater than what the suit could offer. Basically it's like when items in video games do not stack. The kaiju power from the suits might interfere or just not be as compatible with people with a lot of strength already. This could also explain why Kikoru can use so much more than the others, since no offense, but she seems like a pint sized girl who skips gym, she's not exactly a muscle mommy like Vi or Ambessa in Arcane, she also does not appear as physically buff as some of the muscle heads among the trainees. Perhaps she gets a higher boost from the suit, because she has less strength without it.

Right but it’s not like Kafka made then promise then never even attempted, he literally couldn’t do it. So initially being upset he couldn’t keep the promise is understandable but completely ignoring him for presumably a decade while he’s at his rock bottom seems worse than his shortcomings.

One thing to keep in mind about the weapons is that they are also affected by the combat power the user brings out (hence kikoru hits like a truck while others hit like regular ordinance) so the rifles aren't exactly "standard" either

So Mina kinda pisses me off for treating Kafka the way she does. Imagine 2 friends dream to play in the NFL together & 1 of them just physically doesn’t have what it takes to get there. Then the 1 that does make it feels betrayed because the other couldn’t make it, is mad because they gave up trying to make it when, again, they just physically couldn’t do it & quits talking or interacting with them in any way.
