About the hand device, I think I actually figured out a way it works. AFO told Spinner to play a recording of EITHER his voice or Shigiraki's to awaken Kurogiri. If there was only one device like originally thought, it shouldn't matter whose was played. I think this was eluding to the hand containing the second recording device.

i feel ya on the disbelief at the device in the hand. this show doesn't do it too often, but it does still occasionally fall into the trappings of "shounen bullshit" sometimes. (like kenny pointed out in the previous episode, getting hit with an enormous attack that you'd think would end things but surprise they're fine, and now here with the whole "i actually secretly did this other thing that was never even remotely hinted at or anything")

Dunno why the dub changed it so much but in the original, when Hawks sees Twice again he panics & shouts “Kill him now!!” which is a lot more personal than “destroy the clones” - it shows the same panic that led to killing him the first time & Toga hears him want to kill Twice again.
