For the classifications, Ichikawa called the second one a Yonju. Classification isn't based on size but power, with Yonju being generally weaker offspring or hangers on that attack alongside Honju (the big lizard).

I couldn't remember what video it was referenced...I just remember (and pretty sure commented about) the insanity that Kenny, of all people, has NOT seen LotR! (What sucks is they definitely need to do the extended versions...but I know they said it's hard for them to watch stuff that long haha)

IIRC, Kaiju just means Monster in English. It's not an adjective to describe a monster, it just means monster

Yoooo they SHOULD watch Pluto, especially if the Iron Giant is Kenny’s favorite movie. Fantastic recommendation. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Iron Giant was partially inspired by the OG Pluto character.

I just noticed the main love interest woman is named "Mina Ashiro" lol. The pink girl in class 1A in My hero academia had the name "Mina Ashido". If you look for it you will see that this series got a lot of inspiration from MHA and has indirect things that call back to MHA pretty often. Its not in your face but the author definitely got a lot of inspiration from the series.

Yes! I was thrilled when I found out yall were watching this! Be prepared for a few other AoT inspirations in this show (and you can enjoy the intro worry free, it's an actual NON spoilery intro and a banger at that!) That said...would absolutely LOVE to see yall watch some godzilla!!! (And I'll continue to inquire if one/both of yall have watch the how to train your dragon series, bc if at least one of you HAVEN'T...that would be a glorious reaction to watch! Still my fave animated production!)

I recommend watching Pacific Rim movie for some more kaiju action! The first one is amazing and has a killer iconic soundtrack that you can kinda hear remnants of in some of these episodes too. They have a different way of dealing with Kaiju in the movie but its very mecha -anime-esque and I think Kenny would really like it!
