Oh btw, since Montana liked the soundtrack of the dragon fight, just FYI the OST is on youtube, this song is aptly named Dragon Smasher. There's a couple other bops that will appear in future fights too. Composer is Evan Call, he also made the OST for Violet Evergarden, another highly rated tearjerker of an anime.

Stark was not only trained by, but also basically raised by, the strongest warrior in the world. He has also never fought a monster before this dragon. It’s not that he doesn’t realize his own strength, it’s that all he has to compare anything to, is his master. Stark knows how strong he is, he just doesn’t understand how strong everything else is by comparison. It’s imposter syndrome. “Carving a mountain in half with your axe is easy, surely that’s something everyone else can do easily too right? I’m nothing special.”

a cool thing about the dragon scene, is that outside of some limited use of 3d modeling to map out the planes of motion, the scene is entirely hand drawn, 2-d animation, not CGI shortcuts. dont get me wrong, cgi can look good and be used well, but wow does this show what hand drawn animation can still do

I'd say it's more the finer details that Madhouse has other animation studios beat with this anime (clothes, hair, etc).

Stark explaining to Fern how he needs to repay his debt to Eisen is a parallel to when Fern told Frieren how she needed to repay Heiter for saving her life. Stark wants to hurry back with stories of his adventures before Eisen passes away, just like how Fern wanted to finish her training before Heiter passed away. Look at the way Fern reacts to Stark as he explains his reason (around 24:40).

Stark is better than Zenitsu in every way possible. Stark is very much tolerable and has character development and isn't one dimensional like zenitsu is. Stark has been compared to Zenitsu before but I don't think they are anything comparable at all besides the fact that Stark has to confront his fear but Zenitsu doesn't even technically ever confront it properly. The guy passes out and that is supposed to be how he handles himself which is ridiculous.

Seriously, that show and Frieren are the only two shows I've watched that I could genuinely call "beautiful in every way." Violet Evergarden is not only a short watch, but it's an absolute MASTERPIECE.

If you guys want to hear more from the amazing composer of this anime’s music then I highly recommend Violet Evergarden. Evan Call does the OST for both shows (VE watchers immediately recognized the music in Frieren and fell in love, I can assure you 😂), and the animation in Violet is beautiful like nothing you’ve seen up until now… plus it’s just great emotional storytelling. Highly recommend it to anyone.

This show loves short, but well animated fights, and it makes the longer ones all the more special. They come at you when you least expect it.

Yeah I feel like if you have to do it anyway might as well make it fun. I had such trouble doing chores when I was depressed it truly felt like pushing a boulder up a hill endlessly but once you shift your perspective and try to find ways to make it fun, it makes such a difference

They just came out with a trailer for the upcoming Chainsaw Man movie, but I kinda want to discourage you from watching it. There's a line that gives away a twist in the story.
