Now that I think a bit more - Actually, if Mark got his way and Sinclair and Darkwing were put in prison and not used, Cecil and Donald would be dead. The Alternate Mark that hit the Pentagon would have killed them both. They only won bc of the re-animen combined with that sound weapon and they got pretty roughed up even with both of those, so without re-animen I think Cecil, Donal and the entire Pentagon would just be gone and also the Guardians got beat pretty bad, and Darkwing basically sacrificed himself to save everyone, so I feel like they'd probably also would be dead.

The choreography for the fight this ep was pretty dang good, but I can't help but miss one thing that I feel like pretty much every Superhero tv show/movie with super strength heroes misses, and that's martial arts. So many superheroes focus on just raw strength instead of learning more techniques. I feel like it's a missed opportunity. You never see heroes like Superman train in martial arts, it's always the ones with no physical superpowers, the Batmans, the Daredevils, the most you get is like dedicated Martial Arts heroes like Iron fist and Shang Chi or super soldiers like Captain America and Bucky who have good technique and martial arts knowledge. I feel like if there's big threats out there, maybe Superman should sit down with Batman and learn a few of his ninja tricks to act as a force multiplier in battles. Imagine if in addition to his strength training, Mark learnt some good martial arts techniques from other superheroes. Having access to flight, you can do so many crazy moves!

PS - Best anti-viltrumite technique: Transmute the air around someone's head into any opaque material repeatedly to keep the person blind constantly, while having Mark or other heroes beat on them from every angle.

In the comics, Mark is wondering how he managed to defeat Conquest. The person he’s talking to says, and I quote: “Obviously, you’re stronger than you think. On top of that, you had rage and adrenaline…you were more invested in the fight. Conquest acted like a spectator in his own fights.” The implication is that rage and adrenaline are both tools a Viltrumite can use but Conquest didn’t because he was having fun. (If comic readers wanna check, it’s in issue 74). love the reaction as always!

The idea is that Mark gets adrenaline from his human half which gives him an edge over Viltrumites who wouldn’t have needed it and therefore didn’t evolve to have it. The theme would be that it’s the bonds between human and alien that made something even stronger—that part is pretty much accurate imo, but in a different way I’ll get to a lil later. However, the evidence comes from misunderstanding two lines from the comics. The first line we see in this episode, Conquest saying “getting angry doesn’t make you stronger” before Mark bites a chunk out of his shoulder. Mark is in fact enraged and hopped up on adrenaline which does help, so the assumption is that Conquest has never heard of adrenaline and therefore doesn’t have it. What’s actually happening here though is that Mark’s bond with Eve and the rage at her supposed death pushed him beyond what Conquest thought possible. Mark got so mad he punched his own arm into splinters like season 1 Deku! Conquest is underestimating the bonds that cause such a reaction, not Mark’s genetics. Right after he beats Eve, he puts respect on humanity because of her onslaught, and says that Viltrumites don’t have such bonds: “it’s a weakness, really.” Is the bond the weakness or a lack of one the weakness? His dialogue is slightly ambiguous, but the events show that it is because of Eve that Mark was able to win. And just after this, we get the “I’m so lonely” monologue. So the themes are still “human + alien bond > lone alien” but in a slightly different way lol. Ironically, the second line people point to is “stronger” evidence for both arguments and kinda illustrates the fact that it’s a misunderstanding. It comes from a little later in the comics but I removed the spoilery context:

Sorry but that’s a misunderstanding of the line in the comics. I could post the whole quote if you want but basically the idea was Mark had adrenaline while Conquest didn’t because Conquest was playing around up until the very end. Conquest *could* have fought harder, but didn’t and it bit him in the ass. It’s not necessarily Mark’s human genes that saved him but the theme is similar: it was his bonds with them and Eve in particular that helped him fight that hard

In episode 4 of season 3, we learn there are fewer than 50 pure-blooded Viltrumites left, and in the previous season, in episode 4, Nolan tells Mark they're only allowed to procreate with genetically similar species, "humans, for example." In the season 1 finale, Allen tells Mark they destroyed Unopa because they resisted Viltrumite rule. So there's something about Earth. In the season 3 finale, Conquest tells Mark he was sent to take control of Earth "by any means necessary." But I don't think he can just destroy the planet. They want Earth to save their dying race.

I disagree. Not saying that I thought this, but I wouldn't call it unreasonable for people to assume at first that Morgan was only a meta-cast opposite Yuen, given the above-mentioned reason and the fact celebrity casts are all too common these days. Thankfully, this was proven wrong in Morgan's case, but since he this is what I assume to be his introduction to voice-acting, I again understand why people wouldn't immediately love this casting choice. At least the backlash seems to be extremely minor.

Fun not spoiler comic things. In the comic Eve didn’t fight conquest nearly as long, that was basically all show original up until conquest nearly killing her. Conquest’s loneliness speech is a show original. There is no more Damien Darkblood in the comic, this is a plot line that Kirkman wanted to do but ended up not doing for the comic and finally gets to do now! I loved your reaction to this season even if I didn't follow til the season was almost over. Just want to clarify i agree with you that Cecil over reacted when he flipped the trigger to attack Mark in episode 1 or 2. I commented saying Mark did imply a threat because I do think you can frame going up to a government official and demanding a policy change as an implied threat. Its not justification to attack him at all. But I don't think it's inaccurate to say Mark was threatening. In his job, Cecil has to access if someone coming up to him and askijg him something is going to use the giant weapon they bring with them if he tells them no. I don't thibk Mark intended to do anything if cecilnsaid no other than leave the team and stuff. But Cecil isn't a mind reader. Honestly I love how interesting Cecil is because 9 times out of 10 I hate the character like Cecil and they're always 20 steps over the line despite any justification. It's impressive how the writers make him so close to the line. Again out o line to attack Mark and I might have had that lost in earlier comments in a semanticish point.

So the whole adrenaline thing has been a discussion point within the Invincible community. I personally think it is adrenaline that allows Mark to go beyond his own limit, it is implied in the comics that’s the reason why he defeated Conquest, so as it turns out Marks human side is the one that keeps allowing him to win

Looking forward to legend of vox macina. I do think it needs to be said that it's an adaption of the dnd campaign and not just an attempt to animate what happened. Good as hell. I just see a lotnof reactors react as if every single decision in the show is due to a roll and the exact decision isn't but the general vibe is.

I think the information is much more important. Cecil doesn't even know there are only 50 of them. He also doesn't know what type of technology they what, whatever the specs on any other forces they may have. He knows very little about the united planets alliance and whether or not they're an actual threat to the empire that's worth making a closer connection to. And that's before asking what their weaknesses are through methods of asking how did conquest lose an eye and a hand. I do think it's a bigger risk keeping him alive than just killing him but we know 1 piece of information Cecil doesn't have that the audience does that will make the fight against them a whole lot different. Fighting 50 omni mens is different than 5000. I think the invinible war shows that earth can throw enough shit to make 50 survivable. Plus there's the question of why are there only 50. Will there be something they can exploit there? Of course I don't thibk you can make conquest talk or give up information. I'm also pretty sure Omni Man is the dark force Darkblood meant. Last time we saw him was season 1 before he left the planet and stuff.

Check out what happens right after Mark sees Oliver almost die. He starts landing strikes and going blow for blow briefly, then settles back down to being pummeled. Same thing with Eve. Makes the adrenaline theory make sense to me!

So you mean to tell me Marks adrenaline didn't kick in till the very end, not when 100s of people were dying, or when Oliver was getting ripped in half, or barreling through a beach city. Mark was not holding back at any point in that fight you, Conquest was just that much stronger than him and without Atom Eve the world would've been destroyed.

The way I see it the adrenaline theory could be completely correct. And when Mark thought Eve was dead he pushed past his own "limiter". The human limiter that stops you hurting your own body i.e. wont let you hold your breathe until unconsciousness or bite off your own tongue, which we saw when Mark punched Conquest's arm so hard he fractured his own arm.

In the Invincible Season 2 finalie, there is a moment that Foreshadowed Rex's death without us even knowing it. Future Eve called the person in the Robot suit Rex. We didn't know it at the time but that was Future Rudy not Rex. Rex was already dead.

I saw a reactor make a point about eve's powers that I never even considered. They said maybe the mental blocks aren't just for others protection but also herself. She is still technically human so maybe her using her powers without limitations could possibly harm herself too. Haven't read the comics so no idea but thought that was really interesting. Because we see in this episode when she manipulates the air density she tires out way more and creating the water also seemed to require more effort. Just food for thought don't know if I agree with it but think its a really interesting consideration.

Mark beating Conquest doesn't really mean much, especially with Eve's help and Oliver running interference a couple of times. At no point was Conquest taking the fight seriously, even after Eve hit him with that death beam. If Conquest wasn't the type to "play with his food", everyone would've been cooked from the start. As a wise man once said; "Just because you shot Jesse James, don't make you Jesse James."

You can actually spot Conquest in the flashback in episode 1x8 where Nolan is explaining Viltrumite history to Mark: he's standing center frame along with Kreeg (left) and Thula (right). It's basically assumed that he survived the Great Purge, so that kinda puts into perspective why he calls what he does, 'atrocities', and why he's so blackpilled on Viltrumite ideology. To play devil's advocate for Cecil, this does mean he might give up intel freely, so you can kinda understand where Cecil is coming from, but yeah, anyone who knows how stories work knows that shit is gonna blow up in his face.

My prediction is that Damien will try to summon Nolan to Hell, but it won't work since he's not on Earth anymore. Conquest will be accidentally summoned instead, technically escaping Cecil's prison. It'd be kind of "karmic" since Cecil's the reason why Damien was sent back to Hell.

Btw I just want to point this out, there's a funny easter egg for comic book readers, after the Rex's funeral, you'll notice that Mark blushes even though this isn't their first time. This is because during the Conquest fight Eve rebuilt her full body but also made some adjustments, like some things bigger then before. Also the demon side story is a Show exclusive as in it wasn't in the comics.

Also, don't take the question about people complaining about the VA too seriously. They were likely referring to his small scene at the end of the last episode, which was very formal and didn't demonstrate much of the character's personality. I GUARANTEE they were won over by this episode.

It has been widely theorized by fans of the comic that the reason mark can grow in strength in certain moments and in others when he isn’t holding back still lose could be because he revived adrenaline from being part human so when conquest said anger doesn’t make you stronger he thought that was the case until mark proved him otherwise it would also explain how he could hurt him when he wasn’t holding back since the beginning but only did long lasting damage in the end the theory isn’t confirmed but it is what fans believe could be answer

I also questioned Cecil not teleporting in to get Eve, but then I remembered that Conquest was *right there.* Sending in a medical crew isn't even risking lives to save Eve, it's straight up throwing lives away that couldn't save her anyway because the literal second Conquest sees them, they're dead.

Basically Conquest been alive for centuries and each time he just grew stronger meaning his invulnerability is more stronger ,his speed, even his agility and mark only had his power for like couple months and his power level is still evolving in a way

Considering this Darkblood plot is not from the comic and seems to be a wholly new creation of the show, my best guess is that Darkblood is actually talking about Omni-Man. Last Darkblood was actually on Earth, Omni-Man was far stronger than Mark and was the strongest being on the entire planet, and Darkblood knew he was evil before anyone but Cecil (“his blackened heart”).
