Actually I think people give the system too much credit. The ants dungeon already broke like a year or two before Jin even went into the double dungeon because remember, this is the fourth raid on jaju island. There were three others that happened before he went into the double dungeon. So whatever has happened on that island is MOST likely not connected to the system at all

Idk if anyone has already said this but, the ants were originally in a dungeon and a dungeon break occurred, and seeing as the system has a ctrl of other creatures from dungeons that would be how the system influenced or is in ctrl of the ant king.

Unless I was misunderstanding something, I think they meant finish off the ants. As in, the Koreans are already dead from the ants and they swoop in and claim credit for everything after mopping up just the remaining ants.

I like the voice acting dub pretty well overall for this series but I do not like the king ant voice and I hated the voice they had for the orc leader a few episodes ago. I like dubs sometimes but some of the choices they made for this season was terrible in my opinion. This specifically I would have wanted a much deeper and scarier voice for the king ant. It sounds like a soyboy putting a modifier around his voice to make it sound scary but it just doesn't work to me.

I get your concern, but this was still NOT an easy fight for Jinwoo. He may not have been as physically stressed here as he was fighting Baran, but the Ant King was definitely the STRONGEST opponent Jinwoo's faced thus far.

I am really enjoying the show. But I’m concerned this will turn into Dragonball. Aka Jinwoo becoming so OP that all other characters we have met so far will become irrelevant. I hope I’m wrong. But Jinwoo defeated the king with relative ease which means he is probably a SS hunter at this point which puts him way above every other hunter.

Non of the reactions I have seen so far have seemed to notice that the king ant ate the healer and gained his power so no one has predicted that he could just arise the ant king and make him heal her that’s what I’m thinking will happen anyways

I think that's a pretty reasonable take. It goes a pretty good job at being an 'SAO 2.0', in that OP protagonist power fantasy sense. Also, funnily enough, in the sense of spawning a whole wave of "We have Solo Leveling at home" style variants that SAO caused. Ironically, I'd argue that 'Shangri-la Frontier' is the other show that has don't the best SAO 2.0 impression, only in the sense of being about a person playing video games and actually leaning into that as a key concept rather than just a backdrop for the fantasy world. I say ironically because, as far as I've seen anyway, it has largely flown under the radar on account of debuting at the same time as Solo Leveling

Thanks, I know I am in the smallest of minorities on this type of stuff. I tend to be really picky about fights and battles, I really have to see intelligence in them to like them. It's probably bc I played too many strategy games.

And if I remember correctly, in the Manhwa, Jinwoo leveled up that skill by using it a lot on the ant king and was not "in danger" at that moment, so I don't think the system intentionally gave it to him at that time

I think I was oversold on this ep, I kept hearing how amazing the fight was and... well it's okay I guess. Very flashy, very pretty, but not very technique oriented. There wasn't a lot of strategy, just flurries of strikes. I feel like the power level is partly to blame for that. Weaker characters have to fight smart, strong ones can fight lazy. If you have a character that's this OP you kinda have to OPM route of threatening the other characters. Frieren is pretty good with that too. Or you can just finish fights instantly too. I don't mind OP characters 1 hit K.O.s. It makes power scaling more consistent. We don't really get a good grasp here of where Jinwoo is in terms of leveling up as episodes pass. Maybe if the ants tried to finish off the S ranks and he had to finish the fight before they died? Theb again, I haven't seen the finale, but I guess he will raise the S rank healer, so maybe even that would not have been that much more pressure.

Also, the upgraded skill “Mutilation” allows Sung to inflict “more serious (violent/deadly) damage, appearing to compound on itself, at an expedited rate”. It does not enhance, or provide, “enjoyment” of the action. More deadly, yes. More psychotic, no.

The best thing about this anime is that the first two seasons are literally just an introduction to the world and mostly focus on Sung; from now on, the serious world-building is coming.

I kinda wish episode 12 and 13 were one longer episode or dropped at the same time this ending and pace of ep 13 is a little weird imo, literally putting the 2 together, they flow very nicely. But if that’s the only critique a season has they have a massive win.

Finally reaction to the Big Fight :D, next episode is pretty cool. Mutilation was an upgraded version/ ulitmate version of his Fatel Strike skill that he upgraded mid fight, it's not really a passive skill that enjoy's fighting but rather an active skill that allows him to deal more damage and attack more. He can do this because Sung has been saving skill points (more like hoarding). Also a few things, the first thing Sung gave to Cha was a red potion that heals HP but not if your aura is too low while the second thing he got from the demon tower is more akin to an Elixir, so he deals in status affects like eternal sleep, hunter cha is dying which isn't a status affect but due to low HP so the Elixir wouldn't work. Lastly, Sung is immune to all toxins; remember, he couldn't get drunk. Can't wait for season Finale, love all your active shows rn :P.

I was thinking on it awhile, about why this series gave me a very faint sense of familiarity. Maybe it’s just the magic system and gaming themes but I think jinwoo is what the creators of SAO wanted Kirito to be. This usually calm collected badass, but for reason too long to really get into in a comment, jinwoo work as “one of the chosen few” badasses while kirito felt like he was supposed to be one by the writer but in universe he felt flat.

I'm not sure, but from what I took from the fight was that he didn't "get the skill upgrade", by the wording, I feel like he forced it himself, through sacrificing or combining other skills, because he called the upgrade, rather than being surprised. Maybe he also just had stored upgrades/points that he hadn't used yet, and like he's done before, only upgrades them at precise moments to gain the edge on people~

Also Mutilation isn't a new skill, it was an evolution of his "Fatal Strike" skill, it's just a more powerful way to attack then the previous one. It just levelled up during the fight when he needed it
