Hunter ID's are "transferrable" but it's useless to anyone that's not the owner. This is something that was stated in an earlier ep.

They can give you access to the hunters website. Since you access it through a computer, the website doesn't really check who owns the license. And anyone not knowing enough about hunters can be fooled. Like if you're going through TSA and the guy working is just a civilian just flashing the card would be enough. It's like carrying a fake ID or FBI badge. Sometimes it's just enough to flash the card and most normal people wouldn't know whether the name on the card belongs to you or not. If youre a good enough bluff you could probably even fool other hunters. Illumis needle form looks nothing like his regular self. Just go lie about it. And there's enough hunters to not know every single one.

i think you could still use it to fool people. If you want to cross borders, the civilian TSA agent probably won't know how to or bother to identify you as a hunter or you could lie and say you're in disguise. Or if they use scanners at the entrance, or the online info network we saw in the last episode, you can gain access to those with the license since they don't verify you with a picture or something

probably bc most people can't verify who the user is? if I just need a visa, the ordinary TSA agent isn't gonna know how to make sure I'm actually a hunter. especially when hunters ate known for being weird. illumi can look nothing like himself and would still be able to use his license I guess? and if there is a name on it anywhere just googling who they are won't do anything if like ging their info is hidden

They state that a Hunter license is useless to anyone who isn’t the owner. So it’s not transferable. Killua can always retake the exam though. All that being said, after watching this show multiple times I’m still confused why you can sell the card and why it’s worth so much if no one else can use it.

I always thought that the reason all the security measures are in place because the family couldn’t be bothered to kill everyone (possibly weak) who shows up to their door. With the door not even being locked it’s like, “sure if you’re strong enough then yeah we’ll deal with you whatever.”

Them showing their hunter’s license wouldn’t be able to get them in because it’s someone’s private property and it’s their home. It’s owned by the zoldycks and they make all the decisions it’s not like an establishment. So they wouldn’t care if someone is a hunter or not because the only reason people are showing up is to kill them. Having a hunter’s license doesn’t matter in this situation.

Hunter cards are not transferrable, I think that got confused when they mentioned you can sell it for a fortune. Some people in the universe would pay a fortune to have a hunter license in their collection, but you can't use it unless you earned it, it's just for display
