Scanbo comes from Scanlan going absolutely Rambo this episode. Dude had practically the whole Critical Role episode to himself and it was glorious. He was the sole reason many people started playing bards, but very few can be a Scanbo

If I remember correctly in Matt's world, residuum is able to replace materials needed for spells; making it quite valuable. That's just one use for it though

Loved the reaction as always! You guys should do a table-to-screen video after each season so you can compare the original campaign to the show! This distraction Scanlan did to help the others is just one of many amazing things they animated!

Fun fact Sam/Scanlan has said he doesnt like the luck feat or the trait for halflings. Also Vax has the luck feat

Actually, Sam just said he wanted to turn into a dinosaur, so Matt had to cannon dinosaurs into his game. It even poured over into campaign 2.

oh and regarding Luck feat you mentioned... one member of the group does have it, but it's not Scanlan, it's Vax

If you look at the room Scanlan was in when he polymorphed, there was Triceratop skull in the room, so that's probably why he could do it (I don't remember if it was like that in the show)

I like that bards get their moment in this episode. The jack of all trades master of none class deserves some respect! The bane of min/maxers, bards are so much fun to play. It's great to be the Swiss army knife of the party. The only thing was I could never play the typical "horny" bard trope -- it's out of my comfort level and I wouldn't be able to take myself seriously. But the versatility is fun.

It's MACHINA MONDAY AGAIN! Woo! Fun fact - This was even more one-sided in Scanlan's favor in the OG campaign. Sam went in there like an absolute CHAD and got away pretty much unscathed, however it would be near impossible to introduce all the spells that Sam used, so they did the best they could with the potions, so as to not complicate future episodes. Introducing a new power always begs the question of - why is he not using it again - in future episodes, so one time potions kinda solved that issue, he doesn't retain access to every magical effect he uses here, because they came from potions, so he only gets to keep the core ones - Bigby's Hand, Lightning Bolt and Polymorph - to make future episodes easier to manage and keep track of.

Once it began screaming critical role is once a week. Every Thursday. Now that did go into flux as the game is no longer aired live. Began during Covid and c3 was also pre recorded episodes so we aren't sure if they are still on a once a week schedule but probably. Their home game was once whenever they had the time. Which is the bane of dnd

Fun fact: The Scanbo sequence was just Sam completely winging it in the campaign. He acknowledged that he should've just retreated and asked for help, but he wanted to have fun while he was there and managed to make all the right moves in his rampage.
