You can discern a lot of what Kilua talks about on the tape with just software, our training. Police stuff. Although i'm sure there's some civilian equivalents available these days.😅

I can't begin on how much I respect Gon seeing Miko as his Mom As someone who never knew my real dad and had someone actually raise me as there son blood dosent matter Miko is his Mom
Justin Garlington
Not that I’m defending Ging or saying he’s not a bad dad. But the thing is Gon doesn’t care about aging being a father. To him it’s more about the thrill of finding him.
Phoenix Mackenzie
I respect that ging realised he wasn't fit to be a father and instead of dragging the kid wherever he went, potentially putting him in danger, he left him with a relative to have stability and an actual upbringing whilst also leaving a way of Gon learning information if he ended up being similar to his father, as someone who did move a lot as a kid before I was left with relatives as my parents moved I much preferred my time when I wasn't moving all over, it sucks. It takes a lot of self awareness to know if your genuinely not cut out for something, to know who he is and be entirely ok with that, ging knows exactly who he is and he's not going to apologize for who he is, literally he is who he is and that's that. And his thing with his mom isn't hugely different from adopted kids I've known not wanting to know about their bio parents, they have their parents 🤷
Phoenix Mackenzie
Exactly! He seems to have recognised he wasn't fit to be a father so made the choice of leaving him with someone he knew would give him an actual upbringing instead of dragging the poor kid all over and potentially putting him in danger, this way Gon gets an actual upbringing and stability, I respect that🤷
Phoenix Mackenzie
Aka hate the character that doesn't exist? We have nothing on her other than her and ging were "separated" which could mean a ton of things🤷
Phoenix Mackenzie
He knows he wouldn't be a good father, he left Gon with mito to raise rather than dragging a kid around with him(which wouldn't exactly be a life for a kid)
Fox Trot
Ging would make me INCREDIBLY angry if he was a real person… as it stands however? I could not find him more funny. I don’t have the level of hatred most fans do (or that one weird guy in the comments has for his mom for no discernible reason) because his character is honestly a delight to watch work. Plus there’s nothing like a living plot hook to keep a story interesting
Jon Mondragon
Gon would have never known about the box if he wasn't a hunter. His Aunt was told to only give it to him if he became a hunter. If Gon grew up different (hating his dad, not caring who he was) then he would've gone his whole life without knowing his voice but he would've been fine with it since he would've hated him anyway. Gin put a gamble that Gon would turn out like him because he believe his son would have the same adventurous spirit he has. If Gon didn't, it would've been fine. Since he does, Gin gave him a choice whether to listen to the tape, to look for him. Gin has always been honest with who he is (not a good guy). Hating him for how bad of a father he is would be indifferent to him. He already knows he's not a good father and is fine with it. Gon knows his father is a hunter first and is fine with that. Being upset their dynamic isn't a typical father son relationship would be a waste of time because no one involved cares about having that. I know you guys hate Gin, he was created in the story to be hated, and he'd be fine being hated. Gin is a terrible father but still a great character for his mysterious nature.

Incredibly excited for York New City arc and the introduction of my favorite character

Gon's approach to Ging reminds me of a quote from the 1st season of Ted Lasso. "Be curious; not judgmental". It's an interesting concept applied to this situation. Gon had offered no judgment of Ging for abandoning him; only curiosity. He's legitimacy curious about why. What about being a Hunter was so great that his father would choose it over his family. Only way to know is to find him and ask him. It's interesting to think about.
Kr
Yes in a good way
Caleb Holman
His mom abounded him before his dad
BennLimos
I played that line in my head... about Ging's offer of info about Gon's mom. The next lines were gonna be: "She's no longer with us. If you want to know more, you'll have to become strong enough to find me so you could ask me in person but like I said, I don't want to see you so... catch me if you can. " Gon was right not to keep listening - for the good of the fandom.

I’ve seen a ALOT of anime and Ging is STILL in top 10 almost top 5 worst anime dads of all time
Rob Carlstrom
I think Kenny hit the nail on the head when he said that really the only kind of person that would've gotten this far is the kind of person that would not just enjoy but YEARN for the challenge of finding Ging and other kinds of people would've just written him off as an ass. I think it's a very important frame of thinking to remember that not only IS Ging not a good guy and selfish, he admits those things about himself. It doesn't change who he is, but he's at the very least, honest about it.
Sol
Absolutely cannot wait for you guys to get into the York New City Arc. Really excited for the Greed Island Arc though.
Caleb Holman
I'm on the Hate Gon's mom train.
Alayna Petty
I knew Montana would crash OUT over Ging’s message and it was so good lmao
Lettuce Pray
Same, probably my favorite arc
Yuma Nanami
Before we get too far into the pricing of things, HxH currency is Jenny, and is basically the equivalent of Yen. So think 100 jen is $1 basically

tbh endeavor is a better father than ging
Mary Baker
Dang, you’re on a roll.

I would assume Ging didn’t want a kid. He would’ve been about 20 years old when Gon was born, which is pretty young to decide to start a family. 🤷♀️ Well, wether he intended to have a kid with Gon’s mom or not, he’s still a terrible father, but if he never planned on it then it makes since that he doesn’t even try.
julianna
Sadly I pretty often hear that he's not that bad of dad just because he's not abusive or anything like that, standards are crazy low lol
Yuion
Bro, the whole community as a whole is in one mind on this and always has been. He is consistently on every credible top shittiest anime dad list in existence
Yuion
Nah ging is a shitty ass dad and nobody will ever refute that
Franina
York new city arc is about to start I’m so excited 🤗
Franina
This is your first time watching right? I know there’s a few people who are watching Hunterxhunter for the first time along with them
Limini
Seeing tech like that in such a fantasy world makes it feel oddly grounded
Limini
It's so cute that killua had such a fucked up childhood but still played console games like a normal kid
Limini
So if he wanted to just know about his mom there would have been no way? And he doesn't get a second chance to find about his mom? For what reason?????
Limini
Seriously why have a kid if you don't want to see him 😭
Lex
Oh absolutely I despise Ging
Azzy Drem
What a well thought out conception of Greed Island :-)
LeFlaneur
We all hate Gon’s dad here 🙏 I love it!
DontLeaveOnALoss
Kind of makes you see Gons Journey as a tragic trek rather than a fun adventure.
defnotdai
But Gon isn’t even assuming the best or worst of his mother. He just doesn’t care to know anything period, which is in a way worse imo. But he assumes the best of his dad, who was also not present, why?
bibih ayman
Gon is a psycho
Jake Clerico
First Greed Island mention! They set this up SO well
MaSeshield9277
I'm with Montana 100% on the hate.
David Treago
Its weird to acknowledge that we have zero information on his biological mom. She could easily be nobody, she could be dead, she could be dangerous to infants, she could be putting Ging up to this under duress. We want to assume the best of someone whose given us no information, but if Ging's statement of them being seperated is to be believed, we have no reason to assume shes any better about being involved in his life. Glad Gon does not see it as important, he has a mother, and thats Mito. He doesnt even refer to Ging as his dad, he's Ging, theres distance being kept there.
Gdawg88
Ik it’s hella unpopular but I am really glad Gon doesn’t listen about his mom. I don’t think he should care about his father either but that’s separate issue haha.
defnotdai
Gon not caring to know anything about his mom is fucked up idc😂 For all he knows she could’ve been in danger all this time and he’s just like whatever I only care about my deadbeat father, who STILL doesn’t want to see me btw
Erin Ryan
I love you Gon and its sweet that you consider that Aunt Mito is you mom but PLEASE let ME listen to the tape about your mom
Tyshawn Evans
6:20, kenny is right. idk how he always is lmaooo.
Babybear47
I mean hearing over the series of the show ging doesn't seem like a great father and I can understand that but depending on how you take it, the last season I think makes it understandable of how ging is.
Dirty_Oldman
Honestly, I don’t think Ging was fit to be a father. Leaving him with family was probably for the best, either that or adoption.
