It’s interesting to see the binding vow type power-up in another anime. I wonder if it’s just that HxH straight-up influenced others like JJK or if there’s some cultural significance I’m missing. Probably a bit of both if I had to guess

Also kurapika doesn’t need Gon and Killua to use gyo. If kurapika learned Nen from a master like Gon and Killua did then he obviously learned to use gyo as well.

Now that we're learning more about nen and the whole power system, can you see the parallels to JJK and how much homage it pays to this series. Gege constantly praises HxH and exclaims how much it inspired him in his story; often working on JJK while having different HxH manga ch open at once lol

This arc is quite fast paced in comparison to the previous arcs. So much happening in each episode. Every arc in hunterxhunter feels so different from one another and it’s refreshing.

I noticed that, (maybe because this is the dub version and I’ve never watched it) but there is no subtitles to translate the Japanese text, even in older episode. Is there a way to fix that in the future?

19:15 just a clarification, if you know Hatsu in it’s application, you should know Gyo. Kirupika and the rest of the guards should all know Gyo, it’s just not constantly on. JJK took inspiration from HxH in many aspects, the binding vows are part of it.

You mentioned how Nen Conditions are very similar to Binding Vows in JJK. Nen is widely considered to be the best (if not most complicated an extensive) anime power system. A lot of other stories have taken inspiration from HxH and Nen specifically.

The introduction to binding vows is what made the HXH power system even better. It's a good way to highlight crazy power ups without the popular "power of friendship" scheme. It also gave a valid reason as to how someone like Kurapika would end up being so strong in such a short amount of time considering he learned Nen the same time as Gon and Killua. Jjk also has a similar move too like Nanami with his overtime ability.

I feel like it is set up that when he fights hisoka he uses the chains and then dies bc he doesn't know hisoka is only pretending to be a phantom or the real killer of the kurta clan is not a phantom or he wants to go after the people who hired the Phantoms tokillh the kurta and he says something like "you're going down with me" And uses the chains even tho he would die bc he wants that person dead so bad

What I really like about Nen is that theoretically, you can create any ability imaginable. It´s just a question of efficiency and "what am I inclined towards". I honestly can´t think of another system as adaptable as that.
