Yeah Knuckle was still slower than Cheetu so if Morel wasn't there his ability would have been useless. Even if he did land a punch Cheetu can land far more, where Gon couldn't land enough, so that the interest never would have not mattered to Cheetu

I was going to say the same thing the HxH manga definitely creates a better connection with kite. I watched the anime first and this arc is what made me pick up the manga. I was like no way is Gon crashing out over kite. But the manga made me change my view

This is why it sucks this version of the anime doesn’t start at the beginning of the manga. Kite is the first character we meet as the reader. He meets Gon, truly puts the idea of his father in his head, shows him the grander world, gives him the invitation to take the hunter exam, and more. He was genuinely an important figure for Gon and the anime robs the audience of that meaning by putting Kite halfway through the show instead of ep 1. So it’s very common to be like why is Gon so gun-ho about Kite when the anime doesn’t do the best job of showcasing their relationship and how much Kite meant to Gon way before Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua

that time Kite punched Gon, that wasnt the only moment they had. they stayed together until Kite left the island. he basically raised then left gone & came back to raise him again. not to mention having his real dads trust, which hes looking for.
