Seeing Midoriya change the weather with his final smash made me question something: how long did this final battle actually last? It was bright and sunny when Deku got "ambushed" by Aoyama and AFO and the two sides were split up across the country. Some time later when Bakugo "dies", it starts raining and has stayed raining up to this episode. When Deku clears a hole in the storm, we see it's still just as sunny as it was in season seven episode five. Did this entire conflict, which has spanned over a year in real time, only lasted, like, two hours in-show?? 🤔

While theres a bit of making excuses from All for One, it is also great that hes summing up how everyone helped and all it took over 2 seasons. Making it clear the audience knows that there was no wasted moment in the last 2 seasons and it all mattered even if its just ending with Deku punching him. And perfect way to do it where it feels oart of the story and not just exposition.

Why? Deku this whole time has been saying, "This is the story of how I became the world's greatest hero," and we finally get that affirmation this episode, and from his mentor, no less. I think people in the comments are complaining about the dub WAY too much this episode.

Only thing i'm annoyed at is they ruined All Might's speech. During Deku's first punch, in the sub he says "You're MY greatest hero" instead of "you're THE greatest hero" and i think that's so much punchier

I disagree on not being able to translate the idea, because the manga did it. In the official translation of the manga Ochako says "I like Deku, it's got a 'you can do it' kind of vibe."

All for ones final moments are so fricking good. Like for the first time he tells someone not to look at him, then he admits that he thinks he's nothing without Yoichi, someone with the biggest ego known to man saying that is wild

I guess the dub did their best with the "You can do it" phrase with the Japenese term of "Deku". Uraraka in the actual version said she liked the name Deku because its similar to Dekiru which can meet you can do it opposed to Deku which Bakugo called him cause its similar to you can't do anything. The dub honestly couldn't translate all of that over to the English dubbing because its just an entirely different whole thing with Japanese and their phrasing and language. All of them were screaming you can do it! And Uraraka was supposed to say the same thing after they showed how she said Deku should keep his name because it would be similar to the Japanese phrase of you can do it. I just suggest anyone watching a dub show at least take their own time to watch it in the original sub because stuff like this really takes out a lot of meaning and deep writing that you would completely miss out on with the English dub.

Yeah! When I heard they changed that Ururaka line in season 1 I knew it would come back to haunt the dub Why would you not made Ururaka say that "I think Deku is cute! I means "you can do it"/"you got this" A extra gut punch lost to those just watching dub (I think the dub is great, this one change is my biggest criticism to it and it was in season 1 when they did not know it would come this far!)

Translation Note: In the original Japanese, when Iida, Ochaco, and Izuku met on the first day of school, Ochaco says something along the lines of, "I like Deku. It sounds like the Japanese word for 'You can do it'!" (That Japanese word is "dekiru", by the way.)

As far as Shigaraki's ending goes, I think the story had to balance a lot of somewhat conflicting priorities (validating Deku's desire to save him, not writing off or minimizing his actions, getting him to acknowledge his own victimhood but also respecting his agency). Threading that needle means not leaving at least some people disappointed with the conclusion was probably impossible, but I still think it was handled really well in the end.

I know the dub changed some lines, but the one I think hit better than the original is Deku's mom saying "Do your best, Izuku" instead of "You got this, Izuku." because her saying Do your best as Izuku hits that smash, parallels the way Nana Shimura said "Do your best, Toshinori" as All Might hit his last smash against AFO.

Unfortunately they kinda can't, at least, not in the way your describing, since the reason they watch the dubs in the first place is because they have a processing issue that makes it very difficult for them to watch shows with subtitles. But they could definitely take a look at what the diolouge during those scenes in their own time.

The perfect way for the story to end imo, I know a lot of people didn’t like it but the full circle of Izuku losing Ofa but becoming the greatest hero despite that is beautiful, and all of the people he reached his hand out to being there to get him across the finish line with bakugo at his side brings me to tears

Totally agree, i do love the dub version as well, but quite few of the translations in this dubbed episode was not quite on point and didn't give the emotional puch the sub gave. Definitely do give the sub a watch in the future, definitely gonna cry a lot more 🥹

Personally although the actors do a great job at trying to replicate it the Japanese va's absolutely killed every line. not to mention many phrases are not properly translated like All Might saying "You're the greatest hero I've ever known" he actually says "you've been my greatest hero" whenever you can on your own time definitely give the sub a watch
