I forgot how much I love this arc. It's dark, but I feel it really explores the ideas of what it is to be human. Both the absolute cruelty and the limitless compassion. That and I like how it's not just the king, but many of the ants are not as monstrous as their exterior shell portrays (pun intended)

I agree, all three guards protect the king in different ways. Pouf protects his position, Pitou his emotions, and Youpi protects him physically. That one scene tells us so much about their characters.

I've always felt that when the King asked the royal guards what his name was, they all answered based on their own individual view of how they perceive the king. Pouf always places the King on a high pedestal so he thinks the King doesn't even need a name coz that would almost be low of him. Pitou has more protective abilities, so she answered in a way that takes the King's personal feelings into account. Youpi so far is just there like bodyguard, so his answer was just "idk"

I love how absurdly melodramatic he is. But yeah it's understandable to dislike him, his absolute loyalty manifests as extremely objectifying. He places Meruem on this titanic pedestal of "The King", but that comes at the cost of completely dehumanizing him. Which makes sense for an ant, but since Meruem's arc is all about him discovering and exploring his humanity, it essentially places Pouf as the antagonist of his personal growth.

HXH scratches that same itch of intellectualism that Death Note did/does. Togashi really fleshes out so many characters. In the words of Syndrome, when everyone is super… nobody is. Fantastic writing.
