I always thought it was one of those "I wont say thank you because we're friends, and that's just what we do for each other" moments. Mainly because Killua told Ikalgo never to say thanks again now that they're friends. It helps snap Killua back because he realizes that he deviated from the plan because he was watching out for a friend, which is understandable

The "you owe me one" scene can be taken one of two ways, either a translation error, the more logical one, or, ikalgo saying killua owes him one because he won't tell anyone that killua broke from the mission objective, and split from gon, just to kill ants that may have posed no threat to ikalgo, Gon was so hyper focused on the mission that he didn't think about anything else, he didn't even notice that killua hadn't followed him, the only one that noticed was ikalgo, so him keeping it to himself is a favor in a way
