Record based divisional round would be mutually beneficial because it’s unfair to the lions that they could face a 15 win team as a reward for the 1 seed.

Since it’s being brought up in NFL news I wanna chime in on behalf of Vikings nation that from what I’ve seen the majority of us, me included, don’t want them to change the divisional rules for regular season seeding. A compromise that I personally would be open to is tweaking the divisional round re-seeding, but that’s just one man’s thoughts.

You guys made great points about Lamar’s MVP case, but it’s a narrative award. ESPN decided Allen “deserves” one before Lamar or Mahomes get another one, so that’s that.

Congratulations and welcome back to Greg! Nobody tell him that Marx was German.

Congrats Big G! Y'all stay safe

Expectations should absolutely be part of it. That lions roster was loaded and anything below a super bowl run would be a failure, yes even with the injuries. Its the same reason reid/tomlin never win. The vikings got stuck with sam darnold when they lost half their draft class before the season started and still managed to win 14 games. Yes they are a worse team, but what KOC got out of a roster of cast offs that almost every pundit saw competing for the #1 pick next year is still a more impressive coaching job and that's generally how the award goes out.

Welcome back and welcome to fatherhood Greg!

I disagree with that too, however I’m a Vikings fan so it’s somewhat difficult for me to be objective. But the Lions were picked by everyone to win the North, and the Vikings, who were widely picked to finish 4th, for it to come down to week 18 for the division… It’s wins above expectation that basically determines COTY. Stefanski was not the best coach last year, but the Browns were much better than expected. Campbell also doesn’t call plays, just high T 4th down decisions, so credit to Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. Still a great coach, but the award weighs win expectations.

Rocco

I think those two are neck and neck and idc who wins. The real crock of shit will be KOC beating out Campbell for COTY, despite losing to him twice, once in humiliating fashion. I’m biased, but how is winning the toughest division ever with the most injured defense ever not enough?

I think you fellas are overlooking the supporting cast for Lamar vs. Josh in terms of the MVP race. Derrick Henry is greater than James Cook (although Cook is very good), and Lamar has Flowers and Andrews whereas Josh Allen has Khalil Shakir, baby Keon (who might be good someday), and the ghost of Amari Cooper… Lamar has had an incredible season, but I have Josh Allen just above him because he got one more win than Lamar with a lesser supporting cast and has looked at times otherworldly. Those Rams and Lions games back to back put him on top imo.
