Re: the in-game vibes discussion, I can’t speak to the Finals, but I’ve been to both an ALCS and a World Series game. The atmosphere is completely different than a normal game and everyone is way more locked in on the game action. In the WS especially, I’ve never been part of a baseball crowd like the top of the 9th with the home team’s closer on the mound.

Just read an article that Pacers would by far be the longest shot to win the nba championship ever based on betting odds. In any other professional league or college sport this would make more people invested and tune in, but not the NBA. Whose fault is it that fans only care about the favorites and not the underdogs? The league, NBA fans, or both?

reporting from indianapolis having gone to game three (and having been to dozens of playoff games), last night was the most consistently loud i've ever heard the fieldhouse. a ton of sections were standing for almost the entire game. the tv broadcast may not feel different, but it feels different in there. it's on espn and the league to pump it up for viewers at home.
