Would you be willing to give Tesla a non-refundable $1000 for the Model Y Reservation?
🕑 Added 2018-10-29 14:23:55 +0000 UTC As we discussed on TTN, we have this idea to make the Model Y reservation a $1000 non-refundable deposit so that Tesla can actually us the money (and we're potentially talking billions here) to build out more factories right away and get us to our sustainable energy future even faster.Would you be willing to give Tesla $1000 to hold your place in line for the Model Y by getting a trinket of some sort from Tesla - maybe a bottle of Teslaquilla or a signed poster? Give us your thoughts below as to what you'd like to get from Tesla (make sure it's not expensive or it negates the purpose)

Honestly I'm not convinced it's a good idea. Of course, here, probably a majority of us would be positive about the idea, but what I can see of the general public around me is that a lot of people are already not willing to make a $1000 deposit (refundable) for something that is not a true order, but just a "reservation". That's nonsense for a lot of people. So, sure it would have some success, maybe a few hundreds of millions, but I doubt you would raise 1 billion that way. I give you an example: one of my colleagues who is from Romania wanted to build a house with a Tesla roof. He was asked by the Tesla team to do a 1000 euros deposit to be on the waiting list, then those guys told him that they're not going to deliver in Romania, and they don't even know if and when it will happen... And that was a refundable deposit. So a non-refundable deposit? Mmmm, I doubt :)
I'd convert my Model 3 deposit to non-refundable any time. Since I will probably be very happy with my M3 when I get it, I would not buy the Y.
