Excellent point about what is possible: If it isn't a violation of any physical laws, anyone who claims it can't be done will always (usually sooner rather than later) be proven wrong by someone doing it.

Tesla could just add a mechanism to the charge port to allow the car to spit out the charger cable in an emergency. Instead of preventing the car from driving while charging, it should automatically eject the charge cable if the owner puts the car in drive.
