Ahsohn you need to check out Propagandhi. First two albums are skate punk and I love them but everything after moves into thrash and epic bangers with some seriously deep politically lyrical content.

Also, yes. Minutemen fucking RULE and will show you how open-ended punk music was. Also also, Bad Brains started in 1977 with most of punk but songs like Pay To Cum came out in the very early 80's.

If King wants to learn about hardcore, the book American Hardcore (and to a lesser extent, the documentary based off it) is a great starting point. Hardcore is short for "hardcore punk," a faster and heavier version of punk that was less about a general "fuck what's popular" and started focusing on specific issues (straight edge, anti-religion, etc.)

I’m a generation after, Fat Wreck Chords, Millencolin, AFI, avail, bouncing souls, etc. were the masters of my anthems for youth. But I always had mad respect for the ones before who set the DIY ground work and pioneered punk. Loved the conversation for this edition of CCHC.

Present! I used to be real good friends with Alex from Cold World and he loved rap, so it’s definitely a positive homage and not parody. I met Alex around when Frostbite started up (I was there when they recorded their 7 inch- flex?) and all those Philly/PA/Wilkes-Barre hardcore kids were into rap, metal, and pop punk. Great ep. I sometimes forget how big Cold World got or Alex’s brothers’ band Title Fight got and when someone mentions them it’s a surreal moment.
