Ren'Py Developer Update - November 2020
🕑 Added 2020-11-30 20:37:29 +0000 UTCThe Ren’Py 7.4 prerelease is out , and so I’ve spent the last month trying to get it stable for release. This month’s article covers the large and small problems that have been fixed in the prereleases, two new features, and how to send data from Ren’Py to a Google Sheet.
As always, thank you for your support.

I'd make a copy of your game, download the 7.4 prerelease, and use that to open the copy. Ideally it should work without major changes.

Sounds good. What's the best way to migrate from 7.3.2...? Thanks (fyi I have convinced my current employer to convert one of their graphic novels into a visual novel).

There has been a lot of progress in 7.4. Most of it is done by Sylvian Beucler, https://renpy.beuc.net/ , and you can get to his patreon from there. One of the biggest changes is that the web port now can download files as needed, rather than all at once. The main reason it 's still in beta is that web browsers don't have good support for threads, which can lead to sound glitches on slow computers.

This looks excellent. Is there any progress on the web version of Ren'Py? That could be useful.

Thank you!
