I’m really glad I watched Drive To Survive over Memorial Day weekend and developed a F1 fandom, and I can’t wait for this to become a Formula 1 podcast. Would love it if Toto Wolff made an appearance. Let’s also have a F1 podcast with Bang and Hayes. They have my favorite voices in podcasting.

Put D2S on while working and enjoying it except the commentary bits that sound like they were done by Will Buxton and added in later to heighten the tension. I think it's because I tend to watch the races live so am used to the usual English commentary team so hearing a third voice chime in with something that fits the episode narrative stands out to me. I like to ruin things for myself though like when I started noticing where the cameras were in Parks and Rec. Why would a camera crew already be in Jeff Tweedy's house when he answered the door to Andy Dwyer and then Andy looks directly at that camera to point out who he is!?! Might be worth a rewatch.

Hayes you should watch the documentary Williams about the team, I think it's on Netflix. Even though it's about a "family team" they didn't pull any punches in depicting Frank Williams as a truly colossal asshole, which I really appreciated. I used to think they were trash too but now they're my favorite team on the grid. They're kind of the last bastion of an era where you didn't automatically win by having the most money, and even though they definitely suck right now they seem to be on the rise. They're also great at fostering young drivers - other people have commented about George Russell which I would agree with, and the current rumour is that they're going to bring Alex Albon back once Russell jumps to Merc which is great because I think he got a real raw deal in his time at Red Bull.

Not to be a sincere jerkoff, but I think the overall narrative on KAT has been unfair. He's had lost seasons the last 2 years between injuries and covid, but the dude has been outrageously impactful offensively when he's on the floor. Miles better than DLo and Simmons for sure.

I can't abide the George Russell slander! He deserved that podium after he was robbed of one when he filled in for Hamilton last season. He is a great driver who has been sidelined for a real long time, while his peers have been promoted to race winning teams. The "race" was disappointing, but the results were good.

Hey now, that George Russell second place in qualifying was good! Think he's going to be Hamilton's teammate next season as he's a Mercedes driver on loan at Williams. Them driving round slowly for a few laps with a two hour gap in between so they could award half points was garbage though.
