My wife is a right side of the bed person, always. So, I was gonna be on the left, no matter what, and luckily I think I like left side about 60/40 more than the right anyway. Also, you could spin the mattress. Not all mattresses nowadays should be flipped, you have to look up if yours should be flipped.

My wife makes me sleep closest to the door. We moved recently and I had to switch the side I sleep on because of the room layout. Same thing in Airbnbs and hotels.
