But #s 2 and 3 are both black stars (Lebron and CP3) and those two have been topping that category for years (Lebron beat Jokic in this survey category last year with 45% of the vote) IQ is a real test that I think we can all agree has socioeconomic and ethnic biases, but there is no test for BBIQ and to argue it’s used as a cudgel in the same way I think is an exaggeration. I do think we need a new term for the concept to distinguish it from IQ.

PPFD is the way to go. My league does 0.1 for passing, 0.25 for rushing, and 0.5 for receiving and people seem to love it. Also doesn’t change the value landscape too much so doesn’t feel gimmicky

i mean it’s part of the conversation that’s been had forever about the way white players are talked about vs black players and smarts vs athleticism. IQ is already such a racialized stat leveraged against people of color historically i think it’s kind of wild to award that label to the biggest white star in the league. i think the division between smarts and athleticism in pro sports in general is inaccurate anyway viz. what the boys were talking about in this ep and the mindset of a truly gifted player
