wow! Ireland didn't let couples divorce until 1997? That's crazy! I imagine because they're quite a religious country... I didn't know it was that late though.

John and Mary aren't legally allowed to divorce, because it wasn't legal until 1997. It's a parody of Irish couples who were stuck together but kept up a facade of sweetness for other people despite the mutual loathing. Although series 3 was made in 1998, the show could be seen as set a bit earlier.

Father Ted is that silly type of humour I just love and this is a great episode but even better is to follow, episodes 3 and 6 in season 3 are my joint favorites). It's always great to see an reaction to this and you gave a great reaction Megan.
